When the weather's hot & hazy on a lazy day I listen to REM "Imitation of Life" & "Summer Turns to High" with the lyric Summer's here, the light is raising hopes and dragonflies..... makes me leap aropund! On the balmy eve as the sun sets late and it's too hot to sleep it's Dylan's "Not Dark Yet" that plays in my head.

Jonnie,
Next time you listen to REM, can you turn the webcam on? I love to watch people leap around! Get's the blood going! I love the summer time lyric: Summer's here, the light is raising hopes and dragonflies .... Very nice.
Thanks,
Linda.

Practice your T-Rex moves and make a scene.

I love Not Dark Yet. It is one of my favourite songs that I return to a lot.

T-Rex, T? Do you have a sideline we know nothing about? Besides, I thought T-Rex when out with the dinosaurs. Ha. Ha. Ha.

Hi Dylan,
I like having you come to my threads. You're always so supportive. You visit often (but not tooo often) and have nice things to add. Here comes that emoticon again...

well you were talking about dancing to r.e.m., which is cool, hahaha, so i quoted another song of theirs, "wake up bomb." and yes, t. rex. if you don't know t. rex then i feel really very sorry for you, hahaha.

Hello T,
Well, I don't know T.Rex but I knew T.Rex. As a matter of fact, I'm refreshing my memory by trying out some of their dance moves right this second. Funny how these little synchronicities come about...
Oh, and like I tried to type, didn't they go out with the dinosaurs? No matter - wait until you see the tape of me dancing - just like T.Rex!!
Why am I getting the feeling that I've missed something important here? You are referring to the group T.Rex of old, aren't you? Or, is there a song by the same name? Either way...
C U T

This is some of the stuff I've been listening to. I find Paul Westerberg makes for some great summer music.
Buck 65
The Mountain Goats
Leonard Cohen
Paul Westerberg and The Replacements
Firewater
Iron and Wine
Graham Parker
Sam Phillips
Johnny Cash
Richard Buckner
and etc...

I've seen Paul Westerberg's name around here. I think someone has a quote of his in their sig. Maybe you? Anyway, I'm not familiar with him. Never heard of him. I guess a girl could do some research. I imagine there are listen clips on the 'net. In fact, I've not heard of the bulk of what you have in your list. That's why I like these type of lists. I've picked up some very interesting stuff by artists I didn't know existed.
Thanks,
Linda.

Are you sure that was Marc Bolan of T Rex? He died young on September 16th 1977, I know that date as my elder son was born the day he died.

I try to name a couple more obscure names just because commercial music would never give them room to breath.
The Mountain Goats are a band I recently discovered and they have been around for almost a decade and they still haven't really made a dent yet. The funny thing is there AMAZING!!! Its interesting to point out the influences in there work. From Raymond Carver to William Faulkner. I recommend everyone picks up there latest release. The Sunset Tree. You can hear samples on Amazon.com
Cheers
