About "brokeness of things"
Everything is Broken ....by Bob Dylan. Not that I necessarily agree with such sentiments... :)

p.s. actually its not that I disagree with the specifics. But in some sense to me it seems the "brokeness of things" is part of the fullness of life and our being.

Broken lines, broken strings,
Broken threads, broken springs,
Broken idols, broken heads,
People sleeping in broken beds.
Ain't no use jiving
Ain't no use joking
Everything is broken.

Broken bottles, broken plates,
Broken switches, broken gates,
Broken dishes, broken parts,
Streets are filled with broken hearts.
Broken words never meant to be spoken,
Everything is broken.

Seems like every time you stop and turn around
Something else just hit the ground

Broken cutters, broken saws,
Broken buckles, broken laws,
Broken bodies, broken bones,
Broken voices on broken phones.
Take a deep breath, feel like you're chokin',
Everything is broken.

Every time you leave and go off someplace
Things fall to pieces in my face

Broken hands on broken ploughs,
Broken treaties, broken vows,
Broken pipes, broken tools,
People bending broken rules.
Hound dog howling, bull frog croaking,
Everything is broken.

Today, the difficulties lay in the rythm of life that seems to increase at the rythm of new sci. and tech. discoveries. Our environment is changing faster then ever and the sum of energy it takes to cope with constant adaptation is demanding.

Tchoc..I like the statement of yours.....it reminds me of something Carl Sagan wrote very succinctly of the modern age "There is a mismatch between our wisdom and our technology".

So it seems we are fellow fans of Charles Aznavour... :)

I share the idea that...

Tchocolat, I agree with some of your thoughts. I share the idea that suicide is not a denial of the will-to-live, because it is not a rejection of personal well-being but is only a rejection of suffering. Also, suicide does not reject life itself, but only rejects the conditions under which life is given. It is a surrender of life, but not of the will-to-live. The individual who commits suicide gives up living, but does not give up willing. In the act of suicide, the will affirms itself, even though it puts an end to its individual manifestation.

The times we've known are slipping by
F#m
Iike vapour trails across the sky
E
The best of times, the worst of times
A (Asus4 A)
Have come and gone

The years of debt, the years of doubt
the years of 'what's it all about?'
Of holding fast, and holding out
And holding on

D C#7
When life was hard and chances few
F#m
Still I was rich in having you
B7
Though people said we wouldn't go far
E
We went ahead and here we are

A /c#
Together still remember me
D
Together still through everything
A E A
The times we've known

Sometimes the years were lush and green
Sometimes we lived on hope alone
A little bit of both have been
The times we've known

Some lucky flings, some rotten breaks
Some funny things, a few mistakes
The dreams that every dreamer takes
And makes his own

The time to laugh, a time to cry
A time to let the world go by
And if there were some tears to pay
No one can take those years away

On fragile wings our days have flown
D D#dim
Still we have things to call our own
A E C# F#
The times we've known

The times we've known

Tommy- great, thank you!
Do you happen to have translation to that song- I think it is le Boheme?
where Aznavour is singing about several places in Paris where bohemians used to chill out etc. I just love that song so much 8)

No, beeey, it's not "La Bohème". It's "Les bons moments", and here are the words:
Les Bons Moments

Nous avons eu de bons moments
Nous avons eu de grands moments
De folles joies d'étranges peines
A vivre ensemble

Sèche tes pleurs car il me semble
Qu'il vaut mieux dire en se quittant
Nous avons eu pour quelque temps
De bons moments, de bons moments

Hi Linda

a sog and dance man is a song and dance man who's lost an "n". A sad sad creature. Just imagine you lose an "n", Lida? You sure yould miss your "n" dearly. :?

This reminds me of a friend who never got over losing some Anne...

My most memorable Aznavour lines:

You must leave the table
When love is no longer being served
Just show them all you are able to leave
Without saying a word.
