tom~

my "dig" statement was a general opinion of what the subject (winter) entailed as opposed to a seedy hotel where many would Not have Inside (personal) experience...but have an impression of a seedy hotel nevertheless.

And since this has gotten petty, writing a 'winter' poem and 'entering' are two different things.

Thanks for your diligence.

I always hesistate to post, this is why.

well, great isn't it. after an exceptionally busy work period I now become way more free and I will just have to write a damn Winter poem even if I never post it or post it after the judging etc!

C2, that sounds like a pretty weak alibi to me.

What are 'Juniors' for, if not to deal with the mundane stuff, like work?

My dear LCJ (retired) remember the ancient saying at the Bar, "if it's privately paid, suddenly the need to spend money on a Junior fades away".

Also, if those geezers at the CA keep nagging for skeletons etc. then what time is left for fun?

But, as I 'fessed once before, if the topic was stimulating then "adrenalin would flow and alibis would go".

Anyway, regardless of my pitiful participation, have you noticed that, just like last time, the trolls disappear during comp. time! Result!!!!

C2, did you win? Regardless of the matter of ackers/spondulics/wherewithall, it's always a good feeling when your argument is publicly acknowledged as the better of the two. 8)

Critic2 I was sorry to read you didn't enter the contest. You and Lizzytysh deservedly won the last contest and I was looking forward to reading your entry. And may I make a suggestion, don't bring up the trolls ever. It is an open invitation. It might seem to them you are inviting their attention. The last thing I want to read in the poetry contest threads is another big fight among the trolls.

you're right. it was a mistake!

btw, not to mislead, but a few minutes before deadline, in hotel, I was feeding coins into public internet thing. so I did wrte an entry but it is very very slight! (actually, the idea was fun and with 5 more minutes it would have still been slight, but a fair bit better!)

thanks for comments re last comp. let's hope Lizzy keeps up her defence of the ttile!

Where have you been, other than not paying attention, with your nose in lawbooks, C2. You and Seedy ~ regrets, regrets. I'm not even regretting. I simply didn't even try. I'm more than happy to crown the winner [well, watch the use of the word "crown" in that remark  ].

Achilles ~ Thank you for your kind comment, despite my giving you such a wretchedly hard time regarding what sure seemed to me your Winter of Discontent regarding the Seedy Hotel theme. Oh well. Guess I'll pack up my bags and go home  [you know how disarming flattery can ~ sometimes ~ be :) ]. And, yes, of course, we're friends, regardless.

COLD THINGS

by Lizzy The Champ

many things are cold
some are also old
like an ancient piece of snow
that would fulfill both the criteria that I mentioned hereinbelow

(actually, I mentioned them above, but it was vital to get the rhyme and I hope no-one spots the ambiguity)

Just a note to let you all know that Judge Joe Way has begun the process of Judging the submissions.

However, much in need of R&R, the winter snow has called Joe to skiing for the weekend.

He'll be back in his robes next week.

Thanks all,

Linda
