Re: Daddy's Little Princess.
Dear Cate
Sorry but no! No one would bring you drinks.(but Princess Violet said you are quite capable behind a bar)
I'm sure we can arrange it so you can sneak off to the village, and It would be my duty as your Lady in Waiting (for whatever) to keep the King occupied at all times.
I'm not sure about the affairs with the tin men(Knights). All that metal, they might be a bit stiff. (Let me think that through again).
Maybe not a bad idea after all!
Remeber as Queen you will have to set a good example to Princess Violet flower.(I don't have that problem as Lady in Waiting... I knew I got the best job out of this!)
I think a daisy crown would go lovely with Princess Violets Purple dress?

I love the urban dictionary.
Okay I will set a good example for the princess and the gardener - thank you for agreeing to keep the king busy, you're the best! - that's a load off of me.
(pasta's ready - I'll save you guys some - edit out veg which given the conversation sounded bad, but I really did have zucchini in the sauce as well as peppers and mushrooms )

Dear Queen Cate.
Glad to know you are going to be responsible about this.
You know how vulnerable Princess Violet can be. (she doesn't need any more trauma in her life!)
As far as keeping the King occupied I am glad I had the solution in my hands!

Hi Karren ~
I couldn't have written the poem, but because of the worlds in which I've worked, it's a scene I've not directly witnessed but with which I'm familiar. It was a very moving poem. Such a major shift happened through these three lines:

I reacted inside to all three of them.He didn’t get a thank you…or a letter… or a text.
Daddy got a phone call, and his face went ghostly white.
They’d found his little princess in the gutter Friday night.

Re: Daddy's Little Princess.
Thank you for your comments lizzy.
I know it started off being what looked like a lovely poem but like many things in life it's all down to consequences. Even when you think you're doing the right thing, (like giving your children everything just to keep them happy) it's sometimes good to say no. This was just a way of showing that in the extreme.
Hope it didn't upset you too much.

Re: Daddy's Little Princess.
No, I'm fine, Karren. I just wanted to share with you what for me were the most impacting lines and how they so effectively and quickly transitioned. I knew what you'd done or were doing with the somewhat 'hyperbolic' perfection of loveliness between Daddy and daughter [especially with the disinterested mother in the background] and yet there was a foreboding in that and as you progressed, the outcome I was honestly anticipating was incest or the revelation of its having been there all along. As Cate mentioned, it was good to see the father get up from what he was doing to engage with his daughter and her homework [one of the legitimate roles of a parent].
When she simply ended up dead [a total loss into nothingness], those three lines reverberated in a visceral kind of way that I feel might be the goal of someone who writes a poem such as this. It's not intended to merely be a pleasant commentary. The consequences of the continual giving to her throughout her young life were clear. Once she went off to university, what I saw was the open-ended sending of monies without monitoring, what seemed to me the open-ended funding of her drug habits, of which he remained totally unaware and was maximized through the manipulative behaviours of an addict.
What you mention about parents seems to be a more historically-recent trend, related to any number of things [too numerous and lengthy to go into... a social commentary for sure]. Parents did much better with their "No"s in the past. Or so it seems to me from what I experienced and witnessed, in contrast to what I see now.

I agree with you that it is a recent trend. Parents used to say no much more than they do nowdays. I actually think some parents are frightened to say no in case they are thought of as a bad parents. When ever a friend of mines daughter is misbehaving she says 'Oh leave her, she's just expressing herself'. and all I want to say is 'No she is being an obnoxious spoilt child, deal with it now or pay for it later'.(she'll learn!)
Thanks for your thoughts and comments.

Re: Daddy's Little Princess.
.. Hi K., Hi Cate, Alsiony.. I've been entirely tied up this weekend with Memorial Day Weekend guests 'n things, so it seems I've missed all that's been going on here. Alsiony, I believe, wants to be a muddy princess, and Cate seems to like that (along with snails 'n things). Oh, and Cate has also decided to remain the queen so that Karren, as her Lady in Waiting, will then be able to bring her her Screaming Orgasms, while keeping the king occupied. (how are you planning on doing that, by the way, K.??) Oh, and all the while, Queen Cate will be setting a good example for me, since I'm just a princess. (actually, I do like the purple gown and daisy crown, by the way)Karren B wrote:Dear Cate

As to Queen Cate's modeling good behavior for me, I have a feeling she'll be sneaking off with the naughty knights--and I did try that once with my dankish Knight Georges on a beach (while drinking some other amazing drink that I can no longer even recall, it was so good). But I have to agree, K, the armor does interfere.. and it gets all steamy inside too, but not in a good way. Also, I recall getting a bloody lip when I tried to kiss his visor. So, it's a scratchy proposition, especially for the queen, since she has to make speeches 'n things.. and with a bloody lip, well, it might raise a few eyebrows.
.. anyway.. thanks Karren for looking out for me. I should make it through one more day with all the guests 'n things, and then I have a feeling I'll be returning to what I'm really feeling, which I don't think I want to be feeling.. so, at least the guests are a good diversion in the meantime.
Oh, and Alsiony, a muddy gown is not becoming of a true princess, even if you do sip your tea with your pinky in the air. So, I really think you have to decide if this line of work is suitable for you. I have to say, it's not for everyone..

Re: Daddy's Little Princess.
To the Royal Household…
I hope you all had a good weekend and are ready for whatever. I feel trouble brewing in the Royal Household. Queen Cate has ****** off to the village again in search of a Screaming Orgasm (nobody told her the pubs are closed and she won’t get that drink there). Princess Violet is having a major meltdown and considerable trouble with her daisy chain crown, and Princess Alsiony is doing unmentionable things with the gardener and getting her pretty dress very mucky. Lady K is as usual being very well behaved and trying to keep things from coming to a head.
The problem is we have no King to keep these ladies (use the term loosely) under control. There are some major discipline issues here. If you wish to apply for the role I’m sure Queen Cate will accommodate all comers.
Wanted.
In desperate want of manly help
A King is what we need
These ladies have got out of line
They need a firm hand please!
We need a man with nerves of steel
He’ll have to make the grade
He’ll have to make these ladies kneel
And make himself obeyed.
He’ll have to pull them into line
And make them all be good
He’ll need to be a saintly King
Like all Kings really should.
He’ll need to satisfy queen Cate
And Lady K as well.
And stop princesses V & A
From ending up in hell.
So if you think you’re up to it.
And you can do the chore
Then get your CV in the post
And find out what’s in store.
All replies welcome… (warning always read the small print. These are some very badly behaved ladies)

Hi Lady K.. I only have a second. (I freed myself but will have to go back to being tied up shortly) And no, it's Queen Cate who's into ratchet straps, but she's always claimed that I taught her how to use them--whereas, in fact, I just showed her how to attach things to the top of her car with them (which is what ratchet straps are actually for).. so, I guess you could say this is just another minor dispute in this pleasant little kingdom of ours. Something the king might need to get involved in, if Queen Cate keeps up her (well, lies).Karren B wrote: Hi Violet,

.. okay, they'll be tying me to a nice tree today, as the weather is so very nice. Maybe I'll fashion a new daisy crown, at least.. (while I'm tied up, I mean).. as I believe there are a lot of wild flowers there. Or, at least I hope so.
Good luck with finding us a nice king. I would like him to be kind, but firm--uh, I mean. (oh, never mind)

Are we advertising for another MAN!? Oooo good! How clever of you to put out an ad Lady K - see I knew us girls sometimes have a type of telepathy going on
(- the Gardener is feeling right royally flushed at the moment, and is about to leave for a few weeks of R and R... he has been working practically non stop, I think he deserves a medal. I'd like him on the honours list please Queen Cate
)
Please let me know what happens with the advertisement, if you need me I shall be in the laundry room making use of the wash board and scrubbing brush, appropriate use that is. Why can't we have lived in an era where Daz has already been invented? *sigh*)

Re: Daddy's Little Princess.
Hi A.
Yes you've got it, we need a man, not just any man, Vi says he has to be a firm one, kind but firm is what she said or maybe kinda firm, I can't quite remember.
What have you done to the gardener to make him need R & R. I hope you haven't been in that potting shed again getting dirty? And what has he done that warrants him being decorated.
I will keep you posted as to suitable Kingly applicants.(Queen Cate will obviously have the final say, as she is the one who will have to give him a hand, with all his duties that is, as she is the Queen). Although as Lady in waiting (god how long have i got to wait)I will be only to willing to help out from time to time.
A said.
By the way Princess Alsiony, You can't be in the laundry room remember you are one of the princesses, (Is there an inappropriate use for a washboard and scrubbing brush-must look into that one)
I have also heard rumours that someone has been tying up Princess Violet! (I hope you are not involved in any way)
Hopefully news of an Up and Coming King will be imminent! (god I hope so I'm fed up of waiting)

I don't know about Princess V being tied up - I could ask one of the Groundsmen about said rumours if you want me to.

Unfortunately no... for I have just realised that these articles are exactly what they say they are, a washboard and a scrubbing brush. I had forgotten that washing machines with ridiculously powerful spin cycles haven't been invented yet. So I guess I shall be just washing my dress after all.(Is there an inappropriate use for a washboard and scrubbing brush-must look into that one)

Re: Daddy's Little Princess.
Dear Princess Alsiony (the mucky one)
I know being born into Royalty can be difficult but that has never stopped any Royal from having fun and misbehaving. (Have you never heard the Camillagate tapes)?
I wouldn’t be surprise if the grounds men did know something as to the predicament of Princess Violet flower. The last thing she told me was that she was being tied to a tree, (She didn’t sound too worried about it, in fact she said it was a nice day for it). Sorry for implying that you knew something about it, but you have been very mischievous lately, I suspect some bad influence from somewhere.
Queen Cate has gone AWOL. I suspect she is in the village looking to quench her thirst. She has this habit of running off to make daisy chains and if you only knew what she drank sometimes, you would end up in therapy for years. And she said that she had to go and find someone who would be able to restring her pearl necklace, and maybe set a few pearls in her crown. (And I won’t comment any further on that matter).
As for the washboard and scrubbing brush theory, I wish I’d had spoken to you earlier, (would have saved some discomfort). I can’t wait for those powerful spin cycle washing machines to be invented.(You sound like you have experienced said machines)
Please try to behave in a manner befitting a Princess.
As I would in a manner befitting a Lady in Waiting!
Lady K xx
Note to Queen Cate. Get yourself back to the castle there is a Screaming Orgasm (Cocktail) waiting for you!
