Maybe it's the launch of the Leonard Cohen Official Bootleg Series - collectors' sets of all the concerts in the 2008 tour a la Allmans Brothers Band (http://www.hittinthenote.com/cart2/c-122-2008.aspx), CDs and DVDs available to order separately or in sets. After all, why bother to record /film all the shows "for archive purposes" and not share them with everybody?

But why make the announcement on New York time??

A special concert residency (eg Carnegie Hall or Radio City Music Hall) perhaps?

Maybe Leonard has purchased the Chelsea Hotel and will oversee its restoration to full 1960s chic?

It will be interesting to see how long this thread becomes by Monday! Jarkko certainly knows how to get a relatively slow forum day buzzing. The clue lies in the New York time, I'm sure. Otherwise why not LA time, Montreal time or Oslo time. Radio City Music Hall in May? But that would be part of the tour. Award? But which one. Anjani? Would love that but she's still posting on her forum unless she is really sly.

Maybe the announcement of the benefit concert in Europe for all the bankrupt fans on that side of the Atlantic

The last time I had "a very special announcement" to make, I was going to be a Daddy.

For this announcement my guess is either (1) Anjani will join the tour as an opening act, (2) Anjani will join the band, or (3) Leonard's going to be a Daddy.

Eureka, I've got it! Now (once again) being reasonably solvent, Leonard has decided to do a one-off benefit concert at Carnegie Hall for his most impoverished long-term-fans. The mininum requirement is that you have been a devotee for forty years, and increased your debts by at least £400 last year on his behalf. Those who qualify (myself included, of course) will be flown to New York and given accomodation in the Chelsea Hotel. Can't wait...roll on Monday!

Can you not give us any clues??
Was it Leonard's idea to keep us in suspense like this??
Its got to be about the tour, or the date the live DVD is to be released or an award although I will keep on thinking. Whatever, it'll probably mean me spending more money....... it would be good to be able to plan this years holidays though.
This is just too stressful- can't wait that long.
