Ioana, I was once tricked into trying the calamari (ONLY because I couldn't identify what they were), and the whole restaurant was witness... of my screams! Yeakk!
Anyway, I love Hydra so deeply that it may count as an addiction... I must find something in it that I don't like, too. Oh, and I'd be so happy if there were more romanians who shared that passion! :D

Just a quick suggestion:

I only realised about this meet-up through a private email from Henning.... I know I'm a bit stupid, but I've spent so much time lately on the News threads, I totally forgot to check out Events and other parts of the site, and until now I never even realised that many of you go to Hydra every year...

So this is just a humble suggestion, Jarkko, that maybe you could occasionally put a brief Reminder thread about the Hydra 09 Meet-up in other parts of the Forum, to encourage people to come who would not otherwise realise it's happening...
(I know it's not a formal event, just a meet-up, but it would be a shame for someone who joined the forum because of the Tour and who'd enjoy going to Hydra with others from here, to miss it just because they don't remember to navigate around the site...).

Anyway... just an idea.

Btw, all being well, pls count me in! Probably on my own (Laura, maybe I could be your date?? ;-) ), but not sure yet.

Love,
Habie x

Habie: are you young, rich and hot? (handsome is not fashionable anymore) ;-)
Oh well, unfortunately I have no idea where I'll be next year, either. Hopefully not STILL in front of this computer. Siiiiiigh!!

For anyone reading about the Hydra Meetup but worrying about going on their own......I've never been to a Cohen meetup, I've never been to Hydra , and I don't know any of the Cohenites on this forum but....I'm going to Hydra!!! I'm sure that I will meet up with people who have a great depth of knowledge about Cohens work as well as people who have only just fallen under his mystical spell. Great! I can learn from some, and share experiences with others especially as I did see Mr C at the IOW nearly 4o years ago.

At the very worst, I will spend a week wandering around a beautiful Greek island, soaking in the atmosphere, playing with the cats, watching the sun set over the sea and watching the stars glitter in the dark skies whilst listening to Mr C's golden voice on my MP3!

This year has been a fabulous and, with the furore and publicity surrounding Hallelujah, at times hysterically funny; visiting Hydra will be undoubtedly be another highlight.

Please don't be put off 'travelling on your own'!

Ay, Paula, and I had the feeling you had Leonard on your couch and about 200 children! Such a strange illusion, I can't explain where it came from...

Maybe we should all wear (famous) blue raincoats or, alternatively, roses in our teeth so we can recognize one another :)

I fully agree with Stargazer - embrace traveling alone. It is the best way to actually see things. And bring cat food with you. :)

or fedoras!

have a mental picture of dozens of people strolling around the port in blue raincoats trying to look inconspicuous!

As for the cats, my problem will be wanting to take all the strays home with me. Had problems in Jordan once when it took me all of half-an-hour to attract dozens of feral felines!

LOL at Claims R Us! Wonder why no-ones thought of that before!

My two will be firmly staying put in their feline holiday home where they will be waited on hand and foot as befits their status as comfort loving VIPs whilst I suffer a week in paradise!

Laura,
I'm so hot it burns - this radiator really should be switched off that I'm sitting on.
And so young, I just keep getting younger and younger.
And as rich as a cherry chocolate cheese cake.
OK OK, if you must : dark hair, dark eyes, more than double the age I was when I wasn't in my teens any more, earning good money but spending it instantly and frivolously, so no nest egg of any sort, but hey, I enjoy the journey.
Oh, and I'm a heterosexual female.
So must we just be friends, then? :)

First man ever to invite me to Hydra (or anywhere else, for that matter), and you are a woman, Habie! I'll never recover from this!

26 - 28 September (2009) we (my lady and I)will be in/on/at Hydra. Unfortunately we can't make the July meet.
I would love to say hello to members who are in/on/at Hydra during our visit.
