I wish I'd been around to see this thread at the time and been able to comment to ~greg on the impact of the graphic piece he created and the longing unsatisfied in his poem on VietNam.

I love Laurie's and will print that one. Gingermop's... cute  . Daka's is very elegant. I remember seeing Diane's clever one in a different context, and actually Laurie's looks familiar to me, too. I really like yours, Cate and Jill.

You can miss a lot when you don't visit this place. Onward and upward with poems about Leonard.

Thanks for directing me to this thread Cate :D
It really is wonderful, and doubly so for me because of the subject matter.
Huge thankyou! I will keep coming back to read it I think 8)

Moon

moon.. moon.. sing to me
tonight
moon that thou art mine;
moon bright

moon that brings me
kisses, moon that
does caress;
for all, you are the moon
my keeper, and
my abyss;
for all, you are
the moon.

time it is I’m
lost, though time it
finds me
well
far beyond that known,
time keeps us in its spell, and
sends to us the
moon
moon gazing with
its light
for all, you are
the moon
the moon

so, take me now its tides, drawn
from that beyond
with gold in me aflame, these tears
my passion sounds. as all it be
the moon.. gold's dowry
but a theft.. for all,
you are
the moon.. that leaveth
me
bereft

v i o l e t

much later edit: 'its' tides.

.. I can't believe I can't sleep...... yet again..

Do aliens really
Live on the moon?
When did they arrive there
Did they land there in June?

Do alien children
Go to school inside craters
And then grow up
To be alien waiters?

They probably live on the dark side
Hiden well from view
Doing filthy alien things
Out of alien view

I guess they have a right to be there
These aliens so tall and so thin
I just hope the aliens are being good
And aren't living in sin

.. kwills.. come over here this instant!.. [I feel like spanking those little baby cheeks.. and I think you know which ones].. [you bad bad baby boyirl!]..

note: "boyirl" refers to a Turning Ugly Losers Poetry by Forum Members' section, uh, member who refuses to own his/her gender identity. When just little babies, boyirls can be berry berry cute. [berrry!]..

by special request of karrenB I have just been asked to contribute a moon poem and to write it in under 5 minutes.

here it is

Fuck the moon
And its indecision
And cream cheese beyond its sell-by date
And its selective romance
And its cloud disguise
Fuck the moon
And its illegitimate sun
And its yellow fever
And its boast of stardom
Fuck the moon
The golden boy of the Universe
And its broken imitation of an egg
Panned by its critics

I didn't quite get the underlying meaning of your lovely poem.

Maybe you would like to explain it in more detail next time.

Fuck the moon
And its indecision (waxing and waning)
And cream cheese beyond its sell-by date (moon made out of cream cheese)
And its selective romance (its everything if your luck is in, its a lamppost if not)
And its cloud disguise (obvious)
Fuck the moon
And its illegitimate sun (pun son)
And its yellow fever (obvious)
And its boast of stardom (star pun)
Fuck the moon
The golden boy of the Universe (obvious)
And its broken imitation of an egg (break it, fry it, yellow and round)
Panned by its critics (it's a pan pun upon)
