Yes, I suppose that a few of them can be.

perhaps one just needs to smile, to be understanding and avoid being judgemental - at least as much as possible

Is pointing out that somebody else has been judgemental also a judgemental act? I am genuinely interested in the subtleties involved in being judgemental and making judgemental statements. There are times when a person's judgemental statements, actions, and beliefs are clearly meant to be negative and condemnatory, for instance, when, in their judgements, they insult or demean other people without justification, which Geoffrey may have done in the two examples provided above. When negative judgements are based upon ignorant and unfounded biases against certain individuals or groups, then such judgements are arguably unfair and unreasonable, and perhaps should be avoided.
But, perhaps there are times when being judgemental is fair, and can be seen as a positive thing: for example, it may be seen as a reasonable form of judgement to be negatively critical towards someone who is demonstrably unjust and/or hypocritical in their actions and beliefs, in order to express justifiable disagreement with and/or aversion to those actions and beliefs, especially if the actions and beliefs being judged are abusive or otherwise harmful to others in some way. I should think that it is perfectly acceptable to be judgemental towards someone who has committed harmful or even heinous acts against another person or people, and/or who has expressed appalling beliefs. Such individuals certainly do not deserve praise, and arguably should be judged unfavourably for their abhorrent behaviour.
Also, what about times when someone judges somebody else favourably, in a complimentary and laudable manner? One can judge a person to be "warm and likeable", or talented, or tolerant, or kind, or generous, or any number of other positive attributes, based upon their virtuous or otherwise commendatory actions and beliefs. Surely to judge somebody in this way can be beneficial, by showing support and appreciation for genuinely admirable characteristics and behaviours.
Therefore, being "judgemental" does not have to be unacceptable and something to be avoided, does it? I know that the word "judgmental" often has negative connotations, but as I have suggested, perhaps there are times when being judgemental can be interpreted as being positive and justifiable. Perhaps one simply has to use their judgement to determine when being judgemental should be avoided, and when it is acceptable!

Oh Lisa just reading this I feel like a kid again, watching the grownups talk like grownups. Maybe I'll even gather up a thought or two but for now I'm just so darned happy to have a little place at the table watching this marvel of sanity (you) unfold.

ThanksfortheTrouble. Whoever you are, you must have a lot of time on your hands to dig up an old post of mine (for the second time) for the sole purpose of trying to discredit something else that I wrote. You failed to acknowledge my response to your previous attempt to implicitly accuse me of hypocrisy, when I explained that you had taken my comments completely out of context, and thus your alluded criticism of me was not applicable.
As for this instance, I assure you that I would never judge a person to be a contemptible fucktard unless I had ample proof and solid evidence to support my assessment. I would acquire such proof and evidence from thoroughly examining the actions and behaviours and beliefs of the individual(s) in question, and if their actions, behaviours, and beliefs can be shown, without a doubt, to be stupid and contemptible, then I would be entirely justified in making the fair and reasonable judgement that they are, in fact, contemptible fucktards. My bias on this matter would be based on knowledge and it would have a very firm foundation, indeed!
(And, out of curiosity, what did I ever do to you to deserve these attacks? I don't recall ever having had any sort of negative interaction with you on this forum, or any positive interaction, for that matter, because, I don't even know who you are, and so why are you picking on me?)

Hey Geoffrey. Yes, fucktard means stupid person. This is the second time that "ThanksfortheTrouble" has reposted my comment about alienating contemptible fucktards (it was a post from a conversation that I had with you, and it was meant somewhat tongue in cheek!). I have no idea what this person's problem is, but they seem to enjoy doing this sort of thing.
