two movie reviews:
'the substance' (2024) - demi moore. 2 hours 21 minutes
outrageous film, depressing - very sick and silly. i never want to see it again.

'a complete unknown' (2024) - timothée chalamet. 2 hours 21 minutes
entertaining, well-made film. chalamet did as fine a job as anyone could have done, but nobody can replace dylan, not in looks, presence or charisma (if there is such a thing). edward norton was superb as pete seeger, totally brilliant. not being a big folk music fan i enjoyed the closing scene best - when dylan went electric. such a shame the film ended just when it started providing some real energy.

sketch done before the one above. not very good, but who really cares

Cool book cover pics -- I like them! You've clearly been busy making pictures -- nice variety, love the blue eyes on E.T..

I've been busy with a new puppy -- she's a little furball of joy, as well as a bit of a handful at times. I think she's pretty cute!

"Ah your eyes, oh how could I forget your eyes?" (Frankfurt - year unknown by me. Bev??)

Congratulations. I can confirm the level of canine cuteness at very high.

Lisa, that’s a lovely photo of your new puppy - she's beautiful! I’m guessing you’ve already named her.

Alan said: "Ah your eyes, oh how could I forget your eyes?" (Frankfurt - year unknown by me. Bev??)

Alan, I’ve just taken the time to double check this and as far as I know during 1972 to 2009, Leonard sang versions of that line at least 7 times and on 5 of those occasions he said he would “forget your eyes” and on 2 he said “never forget your eyes”. As well, the liner on the official album “Best of LC” in 1975 states, “Oh your eyes, well I forgot your eyes”. Frankfurt was in 1972 and he sang, “Ah your eyes, well I know I’m gonna forget your eyes”.
And I've just realised that the above album is now 50 years old as of 01 Jan 2025 just gone by a few weeks ago.
Boy, how fast does time fly by!

EDIT: Then there is this from the old Prologues site:
Stockholm 03/04/72
additional stanza
Oh Tonight, I know I'm gonna forget tonight
alternate for this first verse (Frankfurt April 6th, 1972)
Ah your eyes, oh how could I forget your eyes
But your body's at home in every sea
How come you give away your news to everyone
I thought you said it was a secret just for me.

Geoffrey, I always appreciate the thought, effort and time you put into posting your excellent images.

Thank you, Bev. I didn't think that I had invented it. Whether I have heard it or just read it, of course, is another matter. I can be fairly sure that Leonard was not visualising Lisa's puppy when he sang the line.

Geoffrey, I am constantly in awe of your creative ability.

Best wishes, as always,

Alan

G, though I usually like your introduction of color, for some reason I would have preferred to see "Holy Books" in black and white. Nice drawing--and the wine glass on the floor was a nice touch. Was that an afterthought or was it planned?
