The poet and Canadian singer who writes his own songs Leonard Cohen will donate 50.000 Euros of endowment of the prize Prince of Asturias of the Letters that it obtained in 2011 to the University of Oviedo to stimulate a chair that will take his name. This initiative will begin to take form in a few months, as has announced today the rector of the academic institution, Vicente Gotor, after the meeting of the University Government.
Cohen received in 2011 the award of the Letters and, during his stay in Asturias to receive the prize, was an object of several honorings, some of which possessed the collaboration of the academic Asturian institution. This way, the students of the Faculty of Philosophy and Letters honoured Cohen for his artistic path in the one that could turn " the music in poetry and the poetry in song ", as a pupil wrote in one of the numerous messages that they stopped in the panel of which hung the exhibition " Cohen: The face B. Drawings and engravings of a multidisciplinary artist ".
Also the university Auditorium received a qualified concert " First we take Milan ", a name that was evoking one of the Cohen's songs and the influence of the author on the musical movement arisen in the decade of the 90s in the campus ovetense of The Milan.
