Some of you have asked me if I was ok with the money you contributed to the costs of the Haiger tour and I can confirm, I was more than ok. I even had some leftover Euros that I wanted to donate to the Bob-Dylan-Handicapped-Singers Charity Club but than I received a bill from the community asking me to pay a bench tax that was due because several participants sat on them benches more than it was necessary. So it is all even now. Lucky me.

I guess i owe a drink next time we meet then Henning.

I was always happy to see a bench on those walks to give my weary legs a rest

Hi everyone ! It's so good to be back communicating with you all and exchanging news and stories speaking of which the weirdest thing happened to Jean and myself the other day . We caught the train to Sheffield and guess what we missed our stop busily rambling on about rhubarb . Not wanting to be late for the event we were attending we decided to get a taxi . Well you will never believe it but the taxi driver(who didn't speak a word of english only fluent German) got lost and we eventually had to make him stop and let us out ( if I didnt know better I would say he was taking us for a ride ). Needless to say the fare was astronomical and we had to get the wife of the event organiser to pick us up . For the rest of that day I had a strange sense of Deja Vu but I can't for the life of me think why !

...true story :.....going to bolton on a theatre trip from liverpool with a change at wigan the other day...no problem as this is a train journey i've done countless of times...so i'm sitting there in an empty carriage minding me own business waiting for the train to pull out of liverpool lime street station when i just happen to glance out of the window and see the train i should have been on leaving from the next platform......after years of the 12:57 wigan train leaving from platform 4 this week it changed to platform 3.....managed to make bolton with 2 minutes to spare before the play began.....

....in other news the yorkshire rhubarb triangle came up in conversation yet again this evening during a meal before the adam cohen concert in liverpool......it would seem that everybody knows about the existence of the yorkshire rhubarb triangle except those folk from yorkshire...there were a few veterans from barmouth and haiger that were around the table this evening.........can you spot them in the photo?

......btw what's this Bob-Dylan-Handicapped-Singers Charity Club ?...nobody has asked me to join and i'm in all the dylan clubs and societies....ta ken[

This yorkshire rhubarb triangle you keep on about has captured my imagination so I am going to set out on an expedition to find it but before I do I would be grateful if you could point out which type it is :
Equilateral, Isosceles or Scalene

There are three special names given to triangles that tell how many sides (or angles) are equal.

There can be 3, 2 or no equal sides/angles:

Equilateral Triangle
Three equal sides
Three equal angles, always 60°

Isosceles Triangle
Two equal sides
Two equal angles

Scalene Triangle
No equal sides
No equal angles



What Type of Angle?

Triangles can also have names that tell you what type of angle is inside:

Acute Triangle
All angles are less than 90°

Right Triangle
Has a right angle (90°)

Obtuse Triangle
Has an angle more than 90°



Combining the Names
Sometimes a triangle will have two names, for example:

Right Isosceles Triangle
Has a right angle (90°), and also two equal angles

Can you guess what the equal angles are?


Area
The area is half of the base times height.

•"b" is the distance along the base
•"h" is the height (measured at right angles to the base)

Area = ½bh

The formula works for all triangles.

Another way of writing the formula is bh/2

Example: What is the area of this triangle?


Height = h = 12

Base = b = 20

Area = bh/2 = 20 × 12 / 2 = 120

Just make sure that the "h" is measured at right angles to the "b".

Why is the Area "Half of bh"?
Imagine you "doubled" the triangle (flip it around one of the upper edges) to make a square-like shape (it would be a "parallelogram" actually), THEN the whole area would be bh (that would be for both triangles, so just one is ½bh), like this:


By slicing the new triangle and moving the sliced part to the other side
you get a simple rectangle, whose area is bh.
