I also want to thank Bernadine and Trish for helping me with the Walk Awards. It was hard though to make them understand that the award comittee is not allowed to be nominated for an award :-)

But they had their own prices eventually: kissing and hugging every winner like their lives depended on it... ;-)

Thanks go out to Henning and family for a most amazing long weekend with great friends.

I was lovely meeting you all once again. I will cherish those days in my memory for a long time.

Also thanks for the great pictures posted above.

And you guys made us register for Madison. At first we thought this would be too expensive but as Judy said so wisely 'Life is short!. So looking forward to seeing as many of you as possible in Madison. Or gladly anytime sooner...

The Finnish team is safely back home - we arrived some moments ago from Dusseldorf.
We are so happy that we decided to join this Walking Weekend - everything was so
PERFECTLY organized. Thank you so much Henning, Elke, Christoph, Kerstin & parents
at Forellen-Franz!!!

Without any doubt this Walking Weekend will be another biennial (?) tradition
in the LC community. It's always such a pleasure to meet with the friends and spend
time together! It will be exciting to see where (and when) the next one will be!

Eija will post a selection of her photos in the near future (it will take some
time to sort the best shots!)

The card project (you know what I mean) has also now been completed!

One of our Poet Laureates poems ( Yorkshire Lad of course)

Walking BAck For you

Henning I'm still hurting
My bones are very weak
But I will rise above it all, its just that I can't speak
I walked with you and everyone
You told me what to do
I cried alone but I was only walking back for you

We're passing all the factories now
Just as the trucks drive through
The fields are far too long for me and the rain is overdue
But if it starts and never stops
I know what I must do
I'll carry on for I am only walking back for you

There are many in your life
Many just like me
Who left their pride on the other side and came to Germany
Even when my arms are stiff and feeling tight
Even when my weary legs keep me up all night

You will have to deal with envy
Though all of this is true
We've been well led
We've been well fed
so I'm walking back for you
:) :) :) :)

Thanks Phil
Diane

Yay, Phil! Bernadine, you and Trish did make perfect Henningettes. Thanks for entertaining us. And as I speak the strains of Joan of Arc are playing from the excellent triple-cd bootleg Ken kindly gave to all. It would take too long to write out everything that happened over the weekend so I am not going to even try. It's just that we must meet again soon.

We will wait to see who wants to volunteer to organise the next walking weekend for, maybe, 2013.

Here are my pictures - only the FIRST DAY uploaded so far (and they are in reverse order).

they are lo-res. If anyone wants the full file of any, pm me your email address.

A special thank you to Henning and family

We must take this chance
To thank Henning Franz
For making the tour entertaining
We laughed till we cried
The walking we tried
But we think that we all need more training

Among all the jokes
We met both his folks
His father and his lovely mother
And also while walking
While chatting and talking
We met his wife, sister and brother

A privilege indeed
So we feel the need
To express our affection toward them
They did it for free
And we all agree
If they charged us we could not afford them

So now take a rest
While we do our best
To tell all the forum about it
When they read the posts
About the tours hosts
No member will ever doubt it

Welcome back, walking guys!
How about a walking tour in Hungary next? We have a professional walking trainer (or what) here :)
I would love to be a member of the organizing committee. I hope you would consider it.

that's great that you are willing to arrange a walking weekend in Hungary, Eva, and Gallina!

Hold your horses just a short while, though - there were a few other suggestions over the past few days from people possibly interested in organising, but I don't know how serious they were. I suggest we give it another couple of weeks to see if anyone else comes forward, in which case you will have to argue between yourselves, or take a vote. If nobody else throws their hat in the ring, it's yours:-)
