bernadine....ok you know that i collected the stones from leonard's baby kamini beach for you and that the single non-unified stone heart is a symbol of my love for whoever wants it in haiger.....however considering that you trish and henning will be doing the BVB hooligan fan thing over the weekend maybe i should also pack something besides the ear plugs....ta ken

Musical interlude...

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m0Aa13NnD3o

I discovered movie maker on my new pc and made this. It's nothing to do with the walking weekend but then again, lots of posts in this glorious thread haven't walked :)

I may as well mention the website I'm developing - http://www.tirnanog-progfolk.com
The video is on the website for obvious reasons

End of interlude

Sweet interlude, Pete. I like your shadows and seascapes.

That is very lovely Pete. I have movie maker but cannot figure out how to use it at all. By the way, Mambo received your book and said to thank you very very much

Hi Ken
I could say that since I retired I've never been so busy but that might give the impression that I wasn't busy when I was at work :) - but it is true when people say that they wondered how they found the time to go to work.
My writing has all been for the music mag in terms of reviews and with starting up the Tir na nOg website then the days are packed :)
..and now I've found movie maker!!!!
but I will get back to the fiction :)

Have you got your walking boots polished and shiny for Germany? And make sure you don't lose a nail..we can't stomach another gruesome photo

all the best...
Pete

bernadine ......remember that mug with the very appropriate wording emblazoned upon it that i presented you with on the occasion of the inaugral leonard cohen biennial international walking weekend two years ago?.....well today while browsing in the royal shakespeare theatre's shop i saw a badge that also has a very appropriate quote(from a midsummer's night dream) that i will present you with in haiger next month......it's obviously a shakespeare quote but i've blurred it out so hopefully the message will come as a pleasant surprise...or maybe not.....ta ken

My eye sight is bad at the best of times Ken, so I cannot make out a word of it. I am so looking forward to receiving your little gifts. You are very sweet. I have to try find something for you in return. I know I know, as long as it is not black and yellow :) .

I see Henning says we will be walking about ten miles a day!! My legs feel sore already.

Ok folks - in a bit more than two weeks it is lc walkabouts time. I'm interested in how you feel at the moment, what your expectations are, your worries and your hopes. Currently the weather report says nothing but it will have to speak later and tell us the truth about how many clouds will be around during our weekend. Is there any particular German that you like to see while you are here ? Angela Merkel, Boris Becker, Juergen Klopp ? Just tell me and I will activate my contacts.

i want papa benedetto!!! please please!

he is supposed to visit germany in september to spread the holy word from the speaker's mic of germany's parliament(as the vatican head of state btw, so all the tax payers in germany will be delighted once they've learned it was their money which made all the lovely photos of the popemobile crossing unter den linden ;-) )

can you use your contacts to lure him to north rhine-westphalia, henning?

i would love to tell him right to the face that he looks like jesus in person! just like cologne's cardinal meissner said in his birthday address to the holy father! :-)

please please! ;-)

Counting days!
Gathering around Leonard birthday it's becoming a tradition for me!
Thank you for the forecast promise, Henning, here it's still so hot!
Right now I'm feeling comfortable walking 2 hours, maybe I will need some ice and Ibuprofen by night, but I think it will work.

henning ...that’s a very kind offer to open your secret contact book for us but all my favourite germans are dead except for wim wenders and werner herzog but they don’t live in germany anymore

bertolt brecht….dead
robert shumann….dead
rainer werner fassbinder…dead
karl marx…..dead
george buchner dead
the brothers grim…dead
george fredrick handel…dead
kurt weill….dead
ludwig van beethoven….dead
martin heidegger…dead
fritz lang….dead…Etc. etc. etc. etc.

my list of interesting dead germans is endless so maybe you could suggest one or two live ones (no footballers please) that you think it would be interesting for us to meet up with in haiger…and I don’t quite agree with what maulwurf says as I don’t think pope bendict despite him being a life-long bob dylan fan turning up at any of the parties at the tannenhof hotel would be a very good idea……but if you disagree then invite him by all means......at least i will have someone to talk to about mr dylan .......ta ken

How I feel? bit tired right now and in need of a holiday.
Worries? Hope the walks are not too difficult... my legs are 2 years older then they were in Wales.

Aspirations? Just to be with my friends and to laugh and have fun and enjoy the great company again.

Germans I want to meet?... I guess the BVB team is out of the question... even if Henning has their personal phone numbers ( I would not be surprised if he has)..... He would not want them mixing with us degenerates when they have to train for Champions League and defend their Championship Title this year.

So all i want really is four days of fun, sunshine, good food, good beer, good music, lots of laughter and being with great friends again. Everything we had in Wales in fact................ except the food :)
