Hey Paula - what sort of English is that ? Is that Welsh ? Looking at the picture with the sheeps, I thought it won't take long and Ken will come up with a photoshop fake and I am sort of involved again. He must really like me. I didn't ask for it though. And by the way, talking about breakfast. Given the amount of beers that we will have the night before, every breakfast we have will taste like English breakfast anyways. So I don't mind much.

Paula, provided it doesn’t rain, you and Mylitta will be just fine. Pack some buckets just in case though, I would. Looking at the website the Marwyn looks rather nice, but notice they have omitted pictures of the ceiling.

People who intend delaying their room booking can relax. We can add the summit hut on Cadair Idris, to the accommodation list. Fine views, no breakfast, ensuite bathroom (bring your own soap, cold shower and blow-dryer always running). To add to your experience, Henning will ascend the mountain at first light dressed as an ancient Celtic bard. That is to say, he will still be wearing the clothes he fell over in and ripped the night before. When he awakens you with his glockenspiel, you will discover, true to the mountain’s legend, what you have become.

No it's Judith- not quite as glamorous as Mylitta, but with an equally bloodthirsty story.
So it sounds like as long as we bring a bucket and a waterproof each, we''l be fine at the Marwyn!

I might have missed something on the main thread but can you explain the minibus cost to me in more detail - It looks like you are saying it is 35 to 70 pounds per person which seems alot

Hi Liptrot, looking forward to meeting you. I don’t remember saying that or where I’d have got that calculation from. If we need to hire transport, we could use extra car spaces plus hire a vehicle and divide the cost of hiring between everyone without their own transport to reduce the cost pp, and we also have the option to use the train for Portmeirion (but unless we can hire from close by, which we may not be able to, returning the vehicle before the end of the weekend might be a problem). To give examples though, randomly googling a hire company http://www.sixt.co.uk/php/res/offerlist (we are not likely to use this one cos it doesn't have a pick up point in our area but just for guide), for 4 days (pick up Thursday afternoon return Monday morning), a 9-seater would cost £ 403.27 with full insurance, £45 each; a 15-seater £443.88, £30 each. Plus petrol. So yes, cost as high as £70 seems unlikely. Until we know final numbers etc, the actual situation will have to remain an unknown, unless anyone has a bus in their garage they could bring along.

Hi Diane I would like to apologise . It was on one of Tim's postings where the seventy pounds was mentioned but your explanation has been very helpful I now fully appreciate the situation . I would like to make it clear that whatever the cost ( in whichever the mode of transport even if you use tandoms)Jean and I would like two seats . Would it be right to say that even if we decide not to walk up the mountain on one of the days we can still travel in the minibus - Our eldest dog Rosie might not manage two consectutive days mountain climbing . ( it is great when you can make excuses for your own shortcomings by blaming it on the dogs )

No problem, Phil. Way over a year ago when we first planned this weekend Tim and I looked into minibus costs together so I would have been of the same mind as him anyhow, and I still can't remember how we would have arrived at that figure but nevermind. I'm optimistic that we will find a way to convey everyone to where they want to be. Expecting one seat per person is a bit much, however. Surely Jean could sit on your lap;-) Having dogs on the walk(s) will be fun.
