eggstraordinary it was Phil, the manner of your leaving the Sandpiper:-(

Best to all my friends in this thread, and I hope all in Hydra have an excellent time!

HI everybody.

Hope you are all well. I think Hydra is over soon so we can get back to the important stuff then :)

Weather absofeckinlutely crap in Ireland lately so any funny stories or photos to cheer me up would be more than appreciated.

3 years ago today exactly that i saw Leonard in concert for the first time, in Kilmainham. Here is a photo of me before the concert and the funny thing is, I am wearing the same linen jacket that I would be wearing when I met him over 2 years later.

Hi Tinderella
You asked for funny stories ! My mother was 90 on saturday so we had a party to celebrate and I told this story to the guests :

Have teeth will travel

When I got married father was a little inebriated on the stag do the night before
he went to the toilet and on his hands and knees and was promptly sick.
unfortunately he failed to keep his false teeth in due to him being so drunk
without thinking he then promptly pulled the flush

He could be heard from distance fishing about in the water with his hand to try and retrieve the perfectly formed dentures

but to no avail they were already riding the merrygoround
at the local sewerage works

but that wasn’t the funny bit

The morning after he could be seen at the bottom of the garden with the manhole cover up looking for said teeth
probably so he could eat his breakfast without any discomfort

If anyone has seen the weddings photograghs he looks like he is just recovering from a bout of pleurisy

I can assure you it is completely true !

Happy days

Tinders,
It was exactly 3 years ago that I attended my first Leonard concert in Dublin on the 15th. :D It also coincided with a milestone birthday and was probably where I first met you at Deirdre's house. Fond memories of the party she put on for a crowd of us before we set off for Kilmainham.

A funny story for you.
Soon after my eldest son went away to university he rang one morning and was in a bit of a state after losing his specs the previous night while making his way back home after a few drinks. My boys have really bad eyesight so this was a real crisis for him. So off his dad went driving about 120 miles to help him find them. They retraced his steps on the route he walked home and Jim remembered stopping for a wee in a graveyard. On finding what appeared to be a familiar tree where he relieved himself, there were his glasses on the ground

Another uni crisis, (also due to to drink!) was the occasion he needed help after during a bit of a party at his digs a girl had collapsed on his bed and in her drunken state had had a wee accident and ruined his mattress! She was so embarrassed she avoided him ever after, but we had to get a cheap replacement mattress from Argos for him. Happy days!

Lol, thanks Margaret and Phil... I knew there were hidden gems still to be told here. :)
Did you go to Hydra Margaret? post some pics if you did.

Ok this is a true story too. I told Ken and a few others when they were over here but do not think I told this one in Wales.

I was on the phone to Mambo some years ago and in chatting she told me that Bob Hope had died!....
For some reason, i misheard her and thought she said The Pope had died :):)... so the conversation went something like this

Mambo- Bob Hope died

me- No way did he?

Mambo- Yea, He died on the golf course

Me- I didn't know he played golf!!
Mambo - Yea, it was the big love of his life. Sure his back garden was a golf course

Me - My god, I never knew that. Did he wear those robes when he was playing
Mambo - What robes?

Me - the papal robes
Mambo - Ber what the hell are you talkin' about?
Me- you said The Pope is dead.

Next think I hear Mambo cracking up laughing on the other end of the line lol and she says Nooooooooooooooooo, BOB HOPE!!! you goose.
. We had a right laugh about it then

I wondered why our local priest is always saying "where there's faith there's Hope"

Hey Happy Birthday Margaret!! That was three years ago to the day was it? I remember us singing Happy Birthday to you on Deirdre's lawn. 15th June Dublin was the best LC concert I have attended, all due to the rain. Perfect. Thanks for reviving the happy memories. Raising a glass to you. Hope you get to raise one or two yourself.

Tinderella, I have just been crying with laughter, over your conversation, with your daughter. So funny.

Ken, I spent a New year, in Scotland, on a lighthouse, my friend was a keeper at the time, anyway when you had to much to drink, we would stagger to the top onto the balcony, and your sobered up in minutes, however, he went up and threw up, his teeth ended up in the Irish Sea. There were no health n safety back then. 8) :)

Well, I'm laughing out loud at all of you. If none of these surfaced in Wales, were the ones that did not quite as good or even better?
Hilarious stuff.

Of course. Isn't that the way it always is at these gatherings ;-) ?

Just "better yet" or "not as good" was all I was looking for :) ... confession may be good for the soul, but maybe not always :) .
However, your response certainly suggests a "better yet" response  :D .

.....i’m in the wrong place again…..I keep checking this thread thinking it’s about that horrific welsh walking trip we made a couple of years ago and also hopefully finding some info about the upcoming BVB supporter’s club walking holiday in september that me who is medically registered to being allergic to football has been tricked into signing up for…

…..wink wink Mary B….

....btw mary never did hear the end of that $200 rip-off story…methinks it would make a good article for the madison 2012 event programme……
