I really don't see how you could see scocoh's comments as "insensitive", Cheshire girl. It seems to me that Scott is just trying to be realistic, accepting that it is unlikely that any new tour (if it happens) will be as extensive as 2008-10.

As Jarkko says, any discussion of a new tour at this stage is pure speculation so let's not sink to arguing the relative merits of one country over another. Any new tour dates would be more than welcome. Have passport, am quite prepared to travel.

I say he will not tour. He's done all that now and we should be grateful. But I really don't think he'll tour either next year or even ever again. From LC's point of view, why should he? He has never been a regular tourer, why start now? Sad, but that's what I think in my heart of hearts.
What do you think?
I don't think any sane fan should bet against you. You have a win-win position here. Who wouldn't happily lose a bet for a chance to see him on stage again? And if it's not going to happen, at least you get some money to cheer you up. No way :)

There is nothing new in the Reuters based report by the "New York Times" newspaper. But the mere fact that a prominent writer of THE most prestigious newspaper in the US featured an item about the upcoming new album is thrilling.

I really think your thoughts about Leonard maybe not touring in the U.S. rather insensitive. After all, although he is still a Canadian citizen, he has, as a lot of us have, chosen to live in the U.S.A. I do understand that he has a great following in the rest of the world, but he also has many loyal fans here who would be very upset if he chose not to perform for us. I just could not imagine this happening.

Let us all hope we can see him in concert again, but if he decides not to, then be thankful we have had a chance to be in his prescence and enjoy his last tour, which was a great pleasure for so many.
No reason to get upset, gal. I live in the US, too-- way out west ( ;-) )-- and would love to see him do a bunch of shows in America. I was just surmising that if he ends up doing a scaled-down tour (if any tour at all), then it seems to me that Canada comes first, then the UK and certain parts of Europe.

I have zero knowledge of any impending tour or non-tour. I'm just looking at generalities and saying to fellow Americans: "Hmmm.... Perhaps we should have our passports at the ready."

I tend to agree with you Scott re possible concerts. IF there are any, I would think the venues would be much smaller and more intimate, and any tour much condensed. However, at this moment, I am thrilled to look forward to January 31st! For those of us in the northern hemisphere, what better way to warm up ones heart in mid-winter!

And...my passport definitely will be in order!

Other locations could be intimate but I think in Ireland it would have to be the opposite of intimate. Kilmainham again?

Same here, Di. Like everyone, I eagerly await any news of a possible tour, but as I was saying the other day---

Say it out loud: "A new Leonard album coming in three months."

 ... :!: .... :D

While finding it difficult to curb my instinctive excitement, I hear the dowdy sparrow of cynicism chirping to me that I found a good many tracks on 'Dear Heather' disappointing. Creative energy must eventually dissipate, but let's hope it hasn't happened yet.

Friday is 27th? That means January 31 is Tuesday, and new CDs in continental Europe are published on Fridays (e.g. in Croatia they reach stores in Friday afternoon in quicker stores, and mostly Saturdays morning in others).
That means Old Ideas will be out on January 27/28 OR next Friday, February 3.
But of course, who will wait, with Amazon shipping one week earlier if you pre-order:)

"New release day" in the UK is normally a Monday so I guess we get it on January 30 if all goes to plan. I don't know about the US but release day in Canada is usually Tuesday which is probably where January 31 comes in.

Looks like 31st will be the US release date, then. All new albums come out on Tuesdays here.

Has anyone heard or found any information on whether or not this will be a full band release?
