Dear all,
My G-gnomes, having laboured all night in the laboratory, have just presented me with some preliminary results, and they make for surprising reading. Naturally, I requested them to be double-checked before announcing them on such a prestigious message board.
There is inconvertible evidence that ..
1. Linda is related to Che Guevara.
2. Kush and Genghis Khan share a common lineage.
3. Elizabeth presents a bigger problem, purely in terms of research, given the volume of material still to be analysed.
4. There is no connection at all between Georges and Bob Dylan. ( I have taken the liberty of informing Mr. Zimmerman, who asked me to pass on his sense of relief).
Further revelations will follow, after the strictest scientific verification.

It is a small small world cousin DNAdrew!
And it seems to grow smaller with each passing day.
If you ever happen to walk up Frederick Street from Princes Street Garden, pls turn right into Rose Street. After about a hundred yards there should be a nice subterranean pub on the left side of the road - wonder if it's still there... However, when you found out all about our other cousins, have a good stout there on me, and don't forget a good three fingers of Macallan's 100 proof.

From you description, it's Milne's Bar, situated at the junction of Hanover Street and Rose Street. It was the hangout of poets in the 60s, people like Hugh MacDiarmid and Norman McCaig. There are still portraits and poetry on the walls of the pub, which has doubled in size since I drank there as a student. But when my research is over, I'll raise a glass to you in Milne's Bar. I applaud your taste in malt whisky!
In the meantime, musn't let drink interfere with genetics !

Byron, my G-gnomes have uncovered absolute proof that you are related to The Maid Of Orleans (aka "Joan of Arc", c 1412-1431). Not the song, not the movie, but the woman/saint who was responsible for halting the English ascendancy in France for ever, and was one of the first to die for a Christian-inspired concept of nationalism. This has taken a bit more time, on account of a certain marital union between first cousins in 1677, but I can declare (D.N.A. proof supplied on request with a S.A.E.) that you are related to Queen Mary II, and NOT her husband, King William III (aka "King Billy").
She was content to leave executive authority with William ( except when he was campaigning in Ireland), but she was largely responsible for raising the moral standard of court life and enjoyed a popularity in the kingdom which her husband never attained. She died of smallpox in Kensington Palace, 1694. The marriage was childless.
