Hi Gingermop ~

I'm sorry to hear that you've lost your friend who loved Leonard. Losing a friend is so hard on our hearts. Is his absence part of the reason you've decided to start participating rather than lurking?

I wondered how you could have been so observant so quickly when you mentioned how I seem to speak as though I know how Leonard, et al, feel. Now I understand.

Yes... analysis of words and statements. It's so true... and it's what was at the heart of my falling in love with Leonard's songs... including the eternal conundrums  ... and conversely, paradoxically, I still end up listening with my heart as much as with my head. Those words have a way of bypassing the mind and going straight to and into the heart. Leonard's voice and music have been integral in that happening. Still, I feel the words in my heart with Anjani's voice and music.

On Leonard's touring, I have the same hunch, including the much smaller scale, fewer venues, and shorter shows. That will be preferable for those who are able to attend. Anything will be fine with me. With prayer, they say where two or more are gathered. I wonder how many we need for bringing hunches to fruition.

Thanks Lizzy.

Well, somewhat. Of course Leonard remains as a link to my friend so the two are intertwined in my mind to some degree.

However despite being introduced to Leonard a few years ago, it's only in the past 18 months that I've been insatiably devouring the back catalogue and liking (most) things I've heard/read, independently of anyone else. Seeing what Leonard actually looked like (circa 70s/80s) sealed the deal!

That said, you can also blame a certain Mr Etherington for feeding a Leonard-appreciation fire that was already burning!

Best,

Gina

Yes, this is what I was relating to, in the sense that your coming here is a remembering, a connection, and an honouring of your friend... all of them together. If I were in your position, I see myself doing the same thing.

I'm glad to see that you have a friend so fine as John here.

Keep those fires burning... 8) .

I found the story with Iggy Pop also quite amusing, and Leonards final comment ;-)

Now I read the article.

I love the anecdote about Leonard Cohen, Iggy Pop and the girl!

Bernd wrote:In the interview Cohen says "Bird on the wire", not "Bird on a wire" (but that doesn´t mean he really did say "the").
'Bird on the Wire' is the title of the song, and the lyric. The interviewer reported LC's words correctly.
“If you do have love it's a kind of wound, and if you don't have it it's worse.” - Leonard, July 1988
