Andrew.
This is a democratic forum wherein freedom of written spoken/thoughts is the main pillar of human aspiration. Should the occasion arise within the confines of me poooota's screen when I am not able to represent me own views, I shall unleash ALBERT upon all and sundry.
By all means allow the viewing public to meander with you through your teeef and gums Andrew.
It's frustrating at moments such as this, to remind meself that I am too slow on the keyboard thingie and me thoughts take an eternity to appear on me screen (and yours)

Oh to be able to type wiv both hands........I'd give me right arm to be ambidextrous!

Was your birthday February 8th, Byron???

Good Bear, if it was, and Happy Bearthday, Dear Man 8) !!!

Now, I'll wait to hear that I've misinterpreted something, that bus pass dates don't relate to birthdates or some such... and that my celebration has nothing to do with other than being glad to know you :D ! Or, that since you're ageless, your birthday is EVERY day... or no day at'all  . Well, I'll just wait to hear  .

One achieves the elevated social position of being awarded one's very own 'bus pass' when one staggers into one's sixty first year.
Those of us who manage to get this far 'through the valley of the ......' look forward to 9.30am each morning when free bus rides are available within our boroughs. Even Lords of the Realm are given bus passes.

Yes... what one might call perfect timing and, particularly, in fact since, speaking of birthdays, 11:46 AM is the exact time of my birth, though in February, not March... and on the 20th, not the 10th. Oooooo.... spoooooookier  .

So, uh, let me try to get this perfectly straight... did you turn 60 on February 8th or didn't you??

60 0n February 8th. The start of my sixty first year.

I've now been 15, four times. 30 twice. 20 thrice. Decrepit mostly lately. Daft mostly. Demented certifiably. Drunk often, a long, long, long time ago. (Allegedly)

Seriously, yes, seriously, now that I'm 60, I find myself thinking more than usually about death.

The current feeling in my 'bones' is that from now on, I'm on borrowed time.

It's a bit like waiting for a tax demand to come through the letter box. You know one is bound to arrive eventually and there is absolutely nothing you can do about it.

I suppose I feel quite fatalistic about the situation. I'm not frightened, just a bit apprehensive. I don't want to look like a pillock and I do want to have my dignity.

So, who would have thought that I'd sprinkle these thoughts in here? Certainly not me.

I could have written that I wanted to 'keep my dignity,' but Albert and a close family member both said, "what dignity?"

Anyway, I was called in to have a medical check-up, that family doctors give to all people who reach 60. The Government has decreed that those of us of a 'certain age' shall henceforth be examined every year to check our health. The same thing happens with cars once they are 3 years old. Every car has to have an M.O.T (Ministry of Transport mechanical and safety examination) before it is allowed on the road. So I trundled along to the doctors and had the human equivalent of an M.O.T.

Suffice it to say that, my 'mechanicals' were well and truly examined, and although my weight, blood pressure etc., are within normal parameters, I do have a problem with my exhaust.  So, nothing new there then!.

 Byron, you're a trip  ~ to the doctor or to the seaside, who knows. Loved your analogy and glad to hear that you're okay. You'll fare best, I feel, if you put it out to the universe that you're Forever Young and will live a healthy life until at least 120. Shoot for the stars, sweetheart :D .
