Actually, Leonard never wanted to be a cop, but a soldier. It does make a difference in his view of the things.

This reminds me of when my favorite, most progressive English teacher in high school got in similar trouble for teaching Catcher in the Rye. The government funded school system isn't really the place for progressive thinkers. Yet the Future is not that outre if taught the right way as a dialog between an unrepentant sinner and a biblical prophet of doom. It's actually standard moral Judeo-Christianity in a new wineskin.

"The Scarlet Letter" and all the etc.'s listed, in the banned-and-to-be-made-available list from Britain ~ Leonard's work [be it book, poetry, or song] is in good stead with the rest. Left-handed compliments, all of these indignant reactions.
