Now,
I have a question, Boss

. From what I'm reading here, you've diminished the spiritual aspects of a Messiah to the extent that he could be nothing more than a mere, great human leader who manages to bring peace to the world during his/her lifetime ~ as seemingly your own belief system precludes a Messiah from being anything more. Once his/her lifetime has expired, the world could, again, collapse into chaos and ruin. The idea of a Messiah coming has been
totally immersed in spirituality and all the possibilities that you have struck down. Now, I'm
really confused by this conversation

~ just when I thought I was getting a handle on it

Dear Lizzy,
It is late here but I shall go on. He will be a great leader, no doubt, and he will bring peace to our world. And it will be everlasting. The very core of civilization will alter. He will implement change never before known. And spirituality, yes, he will inspire this too. His underlying motive will be Love. But he will die like any human. No one can stop this facet of Life. Not even the messiah. It is nature - the way of creation. But he will leave this world very different to the one we know today. There will still be suffering but men won't kill, men won't rape. Children will be valued. And there will be ritual set in place - ritual that means something.
When I get downhearted Lizzy I kind of imagine Life ever so gradually handing this world over to us. Then will come the solar system, then the Universe. It is a gift to us all from some mystical place or being. The messiah or saviour or redeemer or simply hero has been alluded to in many cultures, many religions. He will be a gift too. A gutsy one at that.
All my best
Boss
Maybe he won't die...

Thank you for appreciating the nature of my dreams. I know you appreciate Leonard Cohen and his comprehension of Life immensely. In "The Future" he sings 'you're servant here he has been told' and he wrote that in 1992; perhaps you will be around for it! In this song he also sings about being given '...absolute control over every living soul...' hinting at the dominion of this leader. Leonard sings a song about a guy "Waiting for the Miracle" to come. Maybe the miracle is eternal life, but I doubt it... This is all speculation, like you suggest; my dreams. Guess we'll just have to wait and see.
