hey...thanks they were really good. I dont have either of those albums.
Haggard was touring with Dylan earlier this year which was kind of ironic coz I always thought Haggard was referring to Dylan when he wrote :)

I read about some squirrely guy,
Who claims, he just don't believe in fightin'.
An' I wonder just how long,
The rest of us can count on bein' free.

Only ol' stuff here, nothing new, let see, since Dec. 1st : The benedictine monks of Santo Domingo de silos I, Vivaldi - the four seasons, Ludwig Van Beethoven - the Moonlight Sonata, Enya - a day without rain, Henri Salvador - Jardin d'hiver, chambre avec vue, il fait dimanche, bet.e&Stef - So Danço Samba, Boomerang Baby, I Put a Spell On You, Agua De Beber, Graeme Allwright, Suzanne, L'Étranger, The young Leonard Cohen, Suzanne, The 2001 Leonard Cohen - Ten New Songs. That's it. Old stuff like I said.

Great photograph on the Hazlewood cover, Shane 8) ....before I got to the name, I thought it was, perhaps, a cover of one of Leonard's albums from another country.

By pure luck I downloaded yesterday Bettye LaVette's "The High Road (by Sharon Robinson)" - really great song. Sharon surely has developed with Ten New Songs, she's so good now even without Leonard. Also, Bettye is great, but that was only song I could find. It seems CD is not imported to Croatia... It's now on my wishlist, at #1.

TOM!

I can burn you a copy if you'd like. We could meet in Zagreb for a drink.

Oh, hi,

Yes, we're in February alright. When I posted here yesterday, there was a string of 'bad words' in the post above mine. Probably what amounts to spam.

February in the lower mainland and they're counting 'blooms'. Here in mid-BC, we're counting icicles.

I see, dear. A missing post is like a missing essential punctuation. But the place did not change so much, then.

Maybe it is time to open another thread about other music in February? Before the end of the month. Don't hate me, but I love winter. So. I never got tired of counting icicles etc. Even If i think the two last weeks of May are one of the most beautiful time of the year. And I like summer, and automn. Cheers, have to run. :D

Souad Maasi is one of my new favorites !!! I have her Rouad CD and play it constantly !! She is French/Algerian, no? She does a lot of love ballads with a political flair. What a hauntingly beautiful voice she has. It's the kind that makes you sit in the darkness, staring into the fireplace. Well, anyway, that's the effect she has on me.
And yes, Aaron Neville is indeed one of the Neville Brothers. Ivan Neville and his band Dumpstaphunk will be playing the second weekend of Jazzfest. Aaron is unable to come back due to health problems. (An aside: have you seen Saturday Night Live's Horatio Sans do his wicked impersonation of Aaron? It's a hoot !)
There's also a Neville sister--Charmaine Neville will be playing the first weekend of Jazzfest. Charmaine was assaulted by thugs during the chaos that was Katrina, and lost her home in the flood, too.
Merle Haggard is another favorite that I've been listening to lately. I also noted awhile back, there's a Nina Simone fan in our little group.
Which just proves how amazing Leonard Cohen fans are, and why I love y'all sooooo much.

I've had occasion to hear Souad Massi and also think she's incredible. As I've mentioned, I love the music from the far and middle-east. It has such a passionate appeal.

Yes. A Nina Simone 'fanatic' 8) among us. I think Dylan, if this is the poster you're referring to, is quite knowledgeable on many of the great divas.

I'd agree with you, that this is a pretty diverse group of music lovers.
