A reasonable human being would understand that wealth lives in the heart and only in the heart. He would paint the world in freedom. Nothing would drag on his coat tails. He would hold his woman, his child - they would know protection. A reasonable human being is satisfied with G-d's bounty - he needs no more. To ask for more is not a reasonable human being. He believes in miracles, but understands limitations. He embraces the sun and surrenders gracefully to the moon. He has faith in his fellow man. A reasonable human being laughs with delight he doesn't snigger in a basement. He nurtures the Earth, reaping and sowing. He stays away from maddening crowds, the noise, the wanting. He prefers a more independant way - learning as he goes. A reasonable human being is not greedy, he gives. And that is the cornerstone of a reasonable human being; he Loves. Himself, his family, his neighbour, the world. He is at One with G-d.

I'm sure nobody cares about my two cents but I can say that I'm sure Leonard Cohen respects money in all its form. He's more aware then anyone that he was lucky enough to grow up with "a chance" to get into the artistic world. If he's parents told him storys before bedtime about places across the ocean where 5 year old kids work slave labour I'm sure he'd think it was just some scary story. But as we all know its true! I have friends who grew up in poverty and money comes by and it goes and its not easy. Bragging about the 302 bucks to your name doesn't impress me. There is nothing romantic about that. I applaud anyone that can say "money isn't everything" and mean it but at the same time money is a big deal and deserves people's respect. I'm sure Leonard knows this considering the case taking form. Knowbody likes to get riped off when they work hard for there money like many have said already. I hope this silly conversation can end and we can focus back on what in the beggining brought this community of people together...Leonard Cohen's work.

Being a Libra I like the balance of Boss's and Tom's post. We need money we need to work it is a fact of our reality. Some people due to mental or physical limitations have difficulty with finding and retaining employment. In Canada, if you can work with the system, which is not perfect, you can get your basic needs, I would hope.
There is on one hand the poor who wear it like a badge of honour, who will take care of them when they are old? Earn money while you can, save for your old age. To think that sometone wants to take from Leonard grrrr.
There is no shame in having $$$$. There is same in being wasteful Mr. Trump, who I feel is a very unhapy and wierldy insecure man. Then there are the rich who give back. Like Barry Greenstein the "Robin Hood of poker". He is a rich ex-software developer who donates 100% of his winnings to charity. He has won millions.
A reasonable person takes care of themselves and others, to the best of their ability. If they are not able to take care of themselves, they ask for assistance, other reasonable people will help. Groovy baby 8)

Tri-Me, a reasonable person understands the injustice of our present financial system. They would be well aware of 'The Future' about to erupt in our world. Ya' gotta' 'Imagine' sang John. Gotta' 'Imagine'. 'You may say I'm a dreamer, but I'm not the only one. I hope some day you'll join us, and the world will live as one' He was serious, it ain't some cutesy song.

The world living 'as One' is the pinnacle of what a reasonable person wishes for. Indeed, they devote their being for it. But are we ready for it?

For what can be more important than a world Universally at One. Where children can sing and eat, where money pales into insignificance where it belongs and the rest of us can explore this planet, adding Life and Hope to it's tired and tattered exterior, its broken surface. We are the guardians of Earth, we should care for her. The Dow Jones index is absolutely irrelevant. Another Canadian, David Suzuki, rose to prominence in Australia and around the world some 15 years ago. I saw him give a lecture. He painted a grim picture about our home. He insisted we needed to change our ways - much less indulgence, more care for our world. Otherwise the consequences were dire. It seems no one heard him. I trust he is well. Everything must change. Otherwise we walk a dark path, bumping into the furniture, choking on the smoke. The entire fabric of society must change and as Leonard Cohen suggests, "It's coming to America first"

Thank you for seeing me as a reasonable person :? I will assume you do, because I know I am.
When you've fallen on the highway
And you're lying in the rain
And they ask you how you're feeling
Of course you say you can't complain
If you're squeezed for information
That's when you've got to play it dumb
You just say you're out there waiting
For the miracle to come
Google Definitions of Reasonable:
showing reason or sound judgment; "a sensible choice"; "a sensible person" fair: not excessive or extreme; "a fairish income"; "reasonable prices" marked by sound judgment; "sane nuclear policy"

I think complaining is defeating the purpose of this forum. How 'bout we agree to disagree? Talking about the importance or non importance of money can easily taint the most important subject at hand. Thats my two cents.

Hi All,

I pretty much agree with Tom's postings. At this point however, we're talking about Leonard and money again. Boss said something along the lines of "why don't you leave the man alone" - so why don't we?

That was my 2 cents. Tom, we have four cents, what shall we buy?

Linda.

"and the heart of darkness alibi his money lies behind"-- Death of a Ladies Man

Surely one as spiritual as Leonard is miles above this whole imbroglio , will never miss what he lost, may even re-hire Kelley and offer her a raise.

I agree with Tom to an extent, but why end your message with, "That's my two cents?" And you too Linda. Can't you see this money thing, how it infects. We allude to it for so much of the time, half the time not knowing it. It is a disease.

To have produced what Leonard Cohen has, he must be a spiritual human being. I concur with Lightning. That is one reason why I started this thread - to concentrate on his genius. However, there are over 6000 hits on a site which takes an introspective look into his current imbroglio. It had to be addressed. They say 'Money is the root of all evil'. So why such fascination? Why this envy of a lottery winner? Why the mention of the prize money in a tennis competition? A reasonable human being would know...

Tri-me, I have a very high regard for you. You are definitely reasonable. You believe in the 'Holiness' of Life as well as maintaining a practical outlook. I know we are kind of strangers but I feel a kindred spirit with you. We've all been 'waiting for the miracle', it is unfolding before our very eyes!

Tom, have a deep look into the mirror.

The money is in the mirror, without the moneys -- you would not have the mirror to look into! You would have to look for your reflection into the lake, or the pond, or where ever your piss is down there.
The workers made the sand to melt under high temperature, to make the glass, then silver was added. To make the high temperature, the wood was gathered, the kiln was built. All of them were paid the moneys for the hard labor, so they can feed the children-from the farmers who milked the caw. From the bakers who made the bread.
So it was all for you Boss-for you to see your monkey face there.

Boss are you Bruce Springsteen? If so why are you singing about illegal immigrants all the time? Coming to America for a better life and then charging 120$ to come to your concert? How many working class people are going to be at that concert boss?

Either way I think instigating this topic to continue on is pointless. We've shared, had some laughs, and now its time to move on. The fact that everytime I come to check the forum I see "LEONARD COHEN BIGGER THEN MONEY" flashing is not very appealing.

Thanks for the compliment Boss.
Last night I watched a DVD "The Song Remains the Same" an extended vidoe/live performance of Led Zepplin. They shot the manager blasting the manager at Madison Square Gardens for allowing a vendor sell unapproved merchandise. He accused the man of enabling these people to rip off Led Zepplin.....
In 1992 I went to a Graterul Dead concert in Buffalo New York. There were Dead Heads selling all kinds of unapproved merchandise. Half way through the show the opened the doors and allowed whoever was still putside to come in. I was outofer, but I remember talking to friends who did not have tickets, but came for the party outside who came in. I can't imagine that the members of the GD are hard up for money.
When I worked at the Skydome we had the change to get a glipmse at the stars who performed there. Phil Collins said hi to a friend of mine, he seemed like a nice man. A New Kid on the Block flew his food in a rage because he did not like his potatoes. I won't mention her name just the her initial M ends with a. She was rehearsing, yelling at her dancers, being very nasty. I was setting up a kitchen during her rehearsal. She spotted someone watching her she yelled, "Do you have a ticket for my show..." "My pretapped show that I lipsync" she did not say the later  . The next day a memo was circulated that any employee watching performers rehearsing would be fired. The next performer at the Skydome was Phil Collins.
I would pay to see Leonard Cohen, Lene Lovich (who in in NY this Sept for $20, still too far away) but $150-500 no I won't go. How much money does a person really need. I truly now see the point about how money cannot buy happiness, and looking at folks like Donald Trump can see what the persuit of money acan do to a person. I have seen people crazy in debt. I know a man who took his mother's credit card, she was dying in hospital, and take a week-end trip. Money can make people to strange things. This is why I get up and go to work and save for my old age, can't say retirement because i will never be able to retire. Lucky I have a job that I love and i earn fair money for what i do and am able to charge less for the ones who cannot afford my fixed price. It is stated on my web site Direct billing for accident claims available. Personal consideration available on treatment prices.
Money money money this is a huge subject, i would like to live in a world of true socialism, Canada is very close to this, not quite there, but close. I'm rambling and buttonface is chewing on my foot, wants to play.....
