OK, C2. Thanks. Yes, there's so much else to see. Can we close the issue?

John,

That sounds like an interesting site you go to. Thus far, this is the only forum I've been in. I bet there's literally thousands that deal specifically with songwriting or creative writing in all its forms. I think I'll check it out, to see what happens. I like to see 'works in progress'. It's interesting the changes that are made (not always for the best - but that's a matter of opinioin), but certainly the crits in general can be nothing but helpful. Plus, the more you write, the better you get. Then there's the aspect of learning thru others mistakes (before you make those same mistakes). Good stuff all around.

I thought I would mention for those forum old-timers who had been curious about what this sounded like, that it can be heard on my website. Sorry it took almost four years, my baby steps forward can be rather irritating.

Hello John,

Well, it seems baby steps work, just a little slower than a full gallop! I liked Church Street very much - I don't like to make comparisons, but I will anyway. :) Naturally, at the beginning I felt that old Dylan vibe, then it morphed into a John Prine kind of thing...but it's definitely yours all the way. It was very nicely done.

I have to tell the truth on Democracy, and that is, I'm not terribly keen on Leonard covers. With a few exceptions (Hallelujah) of course. But, the lyrics are so powerful that one does have to have a listen. Again kudos for even getting this far. I've had a beautiful guitar for about a year now, but I've yet to master it. But, Church Street is a beautiful song - kudos for taking your baby steps. I like your blog as well. :)

Thanks Linda...I'm reminded looking at the thread that you had liked the lyric on it's own, so I'm glad you liked it with music too. And any comparison to John Prine is a huge compliment!

Well, I can't listen to it until later, when I have sound capability.

It's really good to see you, Red Poppy. Your name came up the other day and I didn't realize you have appeared... I wondered out loud what had happened to you and where you were. I hope everything is going well for you. Are you still doing performances of your play?

Thanks LIzzy.
Have been working hard on a novel that comes out in May.
Financial cuts have hit our theatre work but maybe in September we'll get back on the road.
