...is not the worst troll we have ever had here
-right - that's what i meant.
---You're much more likely that one.
But no, seriously people, after a 5 year study
I can aver that Michael has never -and could never
- exhibit any kind of true troll-like behavior.

OFFICER JACOBS: IS IT TRUE WHAT THEY'RE SAYING?
CLARICE (STARLING): HUH?
JACOBS: HE'S SOME KIND OF VAMPIRE?
CLARICE: THEY DON'T HAVE A NAME FOR WHAT HE IS.

~greg, that was very, very good!! If that exchange is really in the book/movie it is also a remarkable feat of memory!

remarkable feat of memory!
Well, I have pretty well memorized it
- I've seen it enough times.
But I also have a couple of different transcripts,
and early versions of the script.
And I could also rewind and check
the tape if it ever came to that.
I hardly ever read fiction, but somebody did
turn me on to Thomas Harris - Red Dragon,
-when the book came out, -and I was hooked.
The movie - I consider simply the best ever,
-before The Brady Bunch.

~greg,
Hard to beat the Brady Bunch, I do agree. I was lucky enough to discover Thomas Harris at the beginning, so I was able to read Red Dragon, etc. in order. I read the last book re: Hannibal but could not bring myself to see the movie (sans Jodie Foster). Who knows? I might re-think my position if the situation arises. But, for the time being, no Jodie, no Clarisse.

so is the book then also loosely based on the life of ed gein?
*bonus points to whoever can correctly tell me who ed gein is and what other films were based on him*

The Texas Chainsaw Massacre is probably the worst, most disgusting and horrific piece of shit I've ever seen. I don't know what possessed me to see it (the original, many, many years ago), probably some old boyfriend. Oh, that was my answer re: Ed Gein. And my opinion of the TCM. I don't know that Hannibal Lectre was based on him. Lectre was a classy guy. This Gein guy, wasn't. This movie was based (somewhat) on the life of a FBI agent (he wrote a book also) that was in profiling. I can't say for sure that Hannibal Lectre was modeled after Gein. You know my opinion on TCM.

Hi T,
I got distracted by my memories of TCM. So, to clarify, I can't see how Silence of the Lambs could be in any way connected to Gein. Yes, Hannibal was a nasty guy and did icky things, but he played Bach and enjoyed opera, had a rich cultural life, not mention he was extremely intelligent. TCM - yes, I think that's Gein. I'd hate to know how many more movies have modeled their 'main character' after this guy, Gein. Probably quite a few.

well, it's true.... if not the book then the film was based off of ed gein, who was a necrophiliac (dug bodies up in the graveyard, took them to his cabin, and fucked their brains out

), he also tried to revive them through witchcraft, or some sort of it. also, the women he murdered he would tie them hanging upside down and would skin them, and sew their skin together and wear it. i think he was also a cannibal. as a kid he witnessed his father hanging up pigs and skinning them. his father was also abusive towards him and his mother. also, i think a lot of the murders he committed were because he'd hear voices of his mother telling him to kill people. and just like in "the texas chainsaw massacre," how they have a room boarded up with the dead parents sitting in rocking chairs, ed gein had a room boarded up with all his mother's stuff, like, all made up in the room as if she was still living (and i could be mistaken, but i don't remember if he actually had her body in there, too). but there's one more movie based off him that you didn't mention, and probably the information i gave you ought to have given it away.
but, i loooooove horror movies, and "the texas chainsaw massacre" (the original) is one of my faves! hahaha.

we gotta get you a girl.
But you'll have to learn how to *properly* operate one first.
Start with a butterfly.
Pull off its wings.
then glue them back on.
-see if it flies.
----------
that's lesson #1.
a few more like that and I am
confident that you'll begin to see a sort of light.
Then we'll talk about getting you a girl.

Bizarre, I must say. I feel both repulsed and compelled as I try to find, in my memory banks, an obvious third movie to this 'Triad of Terror. I'm creepin' myself out here. But, hey, I'm a good sport ...

Oh, I had to come back to say '~greg, that is a very creepy passage'.

hahaha, greg, you crack me up. you'd be surprised how many chicks dig that stuff, too. i find it very fascinating. i once made a collage of serial killers, school shooters, terrorists, and evil dictators and made it as an album cover for my cd entitled, "love has no frame of reference here." i was gonna make it into a t-shirt but my parents freaked when they first saw what i had made, so that never came to pass.
what you wrote though reminded me of some old marilyn manson lyrics for his song, "tourniquet":
she's made of hair and bone and little teeth
and things I cannot speak
she comes on like a crippled plaything
spine is just a string
I wrapped our love in all this foil
silver-tight like spider legs
I never wanted it to ever spoil
but flies will always lay their eggs
Take your hatred out on me
make your victim my head
you never ever believed in me
I am your tourniquet
prosthetic synthesis with butterfly
sealed up with virgin stitch
if it hurts, baby please tell me
preserve the innocence
I never wanted it to end like this
but flies will lay their eggs

T -
I've been known to read a horror book on occasion or see a movie. I'm not big into the slash and splash, but there's a few good ones out there. So from what did ~greg quote? and what's the movie. I got a headache this morning.
Thanks,
Linda.

OK. Would it be safe to assume that ~ greg wasn't quoting anything? Hmm.

i dunno if he quoted anything, but it's taken too long for you to guess the third film, so i'll just say it. it was alfred hitchcock's psycho.
