Thanks for the Al Stewart links (I hadn''t heard the second song). Michael Chapman and Al Stewart are friends and played a show in London together around 2000. Michael Chapman has recorded an instrumental called "Trains". He says it started life as two trains, then it became three trains etc. and then he lost count! Here it is:

I saw Al Stewart in concert recently (with his fabulous guitarist Tim Renwick). Night Train to Munich was on the setlist. It seems trains are a theme with him.

Merle Haggard had a close connection to trains even when he was young. He lived in a boxcar. Check this out:

Thanks for the video clip Steven. I have not seen it before. I always say Merle Haggard is Woody Guthrie's true successor !
