A Real Lady would not refer to a man of that distinction as a "thing". Get a grip...linda_lakeside wrote:Well, that might be one of the things I was talking about. One out of two perhaps.

Oh woe and thrice woe. To be redused to 'thingness.'
An inanimate object with no personality! Sniff-sniff.
But wait!! at least I'm not several inanimate objects with no multiple personalities. Woohoo....
"Albert! break open the Chatoo Nuff du Pup and dig out my old Nina Simone cd's, you know the ones? she recorded them when she was old."
What joy, what bliss, what the hell am I going on about?
"MATRON!!!.........."

Some 'thing' !! There you go again.
I used the play on words around Nina's musical output to encourage a more cosmopolitan response from learned contributers, but if certain ladies keep falling asleep, I cannot be held responsible for the plague of three-legged, one-eyed, kamikaze, pieballed ferrets, that even now are hurling themselves from a glider, once created in the loft of the Colditz Prison camp, onto the unsuspecting public who ski across the wide open spaces of Wizziconsin.
My conscience is clear, as is my mind and my bank acount.
Albert! what have you done with my money? Not more flamin' kittens?

Byron, I re-read your dread post and did find something of a connection betwix Ms. Simone and the rest of the things you said. Time to pop open a bottle of Chatoo Nuff Sed.
Thing is an 'empty' word. When you become old and infirm (such as yourself) and begin to forget the true meaning of another word you simply say thing instead. That way, everybody thinks you know what you're talking about.
See how easy living can be?

Yes, Linda, you're right that it's on the previous page. However, it's on the same thread as C2's
tribute. Isobel's suggestion was that Nan create her own thread for posting it. Hence, it'll be the very first thing on the thread, and won't be lost within it
.
I agree that this is something you should do, Nan. Meanwhile, C2, I can't believe you would actually miss a deadline! Wonderful lament, nonetheless

You're right Lady Liz, Nan should post in her own thread in the Poetry Place. This isn't the poetry place, is it? I get lost when I follow topic notificatons.
Anyway, NAN, BY ALL MEANS POST YOUR POEM. POST IT IN EVERY THREAD YOU FEEL LIKE. JUST DO IT. SEND US A MEMO IF YOU LIKE. WE ALL WANT TO READ YOUR POEM AGAIN.
Best Wishes,
~ Linda
