Excellent idea! The news area has been getting 'busy' with not just Leonard, but everyone related musically or family-wise to Leonard. A separate section to follow Adam, Anjani, and everyone else would be perfect!

I am unclear about what the "yes", "agree" and "no" responses all mean for implementation.
Anyway, here is my take on this matter.

The way I surf the forum on a regular basis, it doesn't matter where the posts are located. I use "View active topics".
But for archival purposes, I think it is disrespectful to lump in LC's son, who declares that he is part of the family business, with everybody else mentioned, others who float in and out of LC's landscape for various lengths of time and reasons.

So why not have a separate section for Adam Cohen (sort of a leonarcohenforumandson family business) and a separate section for all the other artists- former, current, new and yet to be determined.

I think we should leave this forum as it was originally intended. 'leonardcohenforum.com' I have never heard of a Family Business forum and seeing as The Webb sisters, Sharon Robinson, Adam etc, have their own websites for us to get their information, if we want it, it seems quite unnecessary to lump Adam in with his Father.

I hesitated to post here in the first place because I knew my post would be misinterpreted.

Leaving that aside. By your logic, if all these artists have their own websites then Jarkko should never start a thread on the leonardcohenforum.com with concert tour schedules and ticket links for any of the artists mentioned eg., the Webbs and Sharon because they have their own websites?

I would not want to second guess Jarkko's reasons for adding concert tours for other artists at all. It is his Forum after all and I am very happy to be a member of it. Perhaps I am a purist at heart and think it should be completely L.C. oriented. The other artist info. is really redundant as they do have their own Fan clubs/websites.

Because we already have this discussion re: Anjani, and later about many posts announcing Webbs' shows etc. so I don't see why Adam deserves better than the ladies But we have a need for section for all Cohen-related artists for a long time, and News section is also a good place to park it.

And in this way Leonard Cohen forum and news will be Leonard Cohen forum, as I don't think it's appropriate to have so many news not related directly to him when I log into this place.

i don't know why we can't just be nice and let jarkko and leonard take the initiative to do what they think is best, instead of stirring everything up. i am going to get cross soon, there's nothing wrong here.

I really appreciate having news about Adam Cohen, Webbs, Anjani et al here. Yes, give them a good visible section of their own. Not being a great web surfer, I don't, and probably wouldn't visit their forums, so if they weren't here a lot of good things would probably pass me by. I'm very grateful to this forum for keeping me abreast of events and people Leonard-related.

Well said, Cheshire gal - that's what drew us to the Forum, after all, an interest in LEONARD Cohen. When Leonard is not touring there is a temptation to "promote" others, and it is of course Jarkko's decision, but he did ask for our opinions. If that is seen as too "purist" then by all means add in the others further down - the "other music" section would seem the appropriate place, rather than the prominent and important News section. As you rightly point out, they all have their own sites, and anyone interested enough will go there.

I don't really understand what your problem with a Related Artists section is. I mean, the topics and discussions are all there, we ARE talking about them anyway. Why not collect them somewhere where they won't stand in your way when you log in and want to read only LC related topics? I don't like the idea of using "Other Music" for this purpose, because it's not just "other music". Nor is it "Leonard's music". It's something in between, so yeah, I think there should be a distinction.

As to where to place such a board, the Music Place, right under the "Other Music" board is one idea. Or it could go to "General" and replace "Book Of Longing & Blue Alert", which could very well be split and done with (book of longing threads can go the "poetry and novels" and blue alert thread to the new board).

I must admit that I've always wondered where exactly I should post news on Adam, Anjani, Neema, the Webbs, etc. Occasionally, I've posted in Other Music but feel that posts are much less likely to be read there. If there's hot news on someone's new tour or album, it's far more likely to be seen in News. Thus, if we have a related artists section, I think it should have a more prominent place than Other Music. On the other hand, if there are periods where there isn't much Leonard news, then posting about related artists in News, helps to keep the board alive.
