Let your 'hearts be at ease,' production is under way on the new book, and it ought to be heading off to the publisher fairly soon (possibly by year's end).

That's GREAT news! I for one am very much looking forward to reading, I mean, READING some new work from Leonard.

Let's keep this thread "top of the list" until "everybody knows".
The new book is coming soon.
mpetit = Michael Petit, designer, the latest Cohen-related work being Dear Heather. Well, at least the latest we have seen - because the new book is coming soon.

Hi Tom,
Yes, I did happen to notice the Michael Petit reference on the cover of DH and The Future, as well. So, I imagine Mr. Petit knows what we hope one day "everybody knows". I, for one, am looking forward to a new book with great anticipation. So much so, I'll be checking my watches every five minutes or so.
Yes, let's keep this topic going while we're waiting for the miracle as there is a war, and we don't know if we'll still be here when Leonard says here it is. That was a bit over the top, I agree. But what the hell, it's the Season to be Merry. Oops, I started a sentence with a conjunction.
Regards,
Linda.

Don't get too impatient folks. After the manuscript has been
accepted by the publisher it will take from 6 to 9 monts until
the book has been printed and is on the market! Anyway,
the new year of 2005 will bring us the long-awaited
collection of new poetry!

Thanks Jarkko - everyone seems quite excited! I hope no one has it on their Christmas list.

So it's confirmed
Yes, I do expect half year of procedure, maybe it will be on time for 71st birthday.
I was reading some old articles, in late 1990s (when the original manuscript was more or less ready, before TNS - Leanne Ungar said in the 2001 interview that "Leonard finsihed the book 2 years ago") there was talk about 100+ new poems, but in 2001 somebody wrote there's about 250 poems? That will be good and big book

The new book is coming soon!

You're right, jarkko, about the time we still have to wait. But what's even another year compared to Leonard revising the poems again?
At least we're not
waiting for the miracle anymore.

Maybe
Just be for real won’t you, Baby
Be for real oh, Baby ?
(Well, Honey, I’m flexible. Oh, yeah.)

I don't give a damn about the truth, unless it's the naked truth, oh yeah!

Damn, I was about to write that also, but thought it's maybe too much
that song seem appropriate; there will be naked truth in the book

Hi Tom(s),
I originally read (through the Google alerts) that the book would be about 250 poems (that was about 2 years ago!) - I then read it was scaled back. I think some of the poems are already in The Blackening Pages. Nonetheless, there will be plenty of NEW stuff we can all enjoy! I would imagine that there will be interesting artwork as well. Can't wait!

There will still be some who will have it on their 2005 Christmas list

.
No idea where I was for Michael's November 29th posting, or the remainder of the thread, but better late than never, and I'm glad to hear it now. Lovely Christmas gift. Thanks, Michael.

I hope we won't be among those, i. e. that we will have read it before Xmas next...
So do you, I know (don't ask me how - it's a secret

)
