To Izzy and Carm and Imaginary Friend and everybody else who's posted on this thread concerning my poem:

Good G-d, I hope ALL OF YOU are writing your own poetry or essays or stories or something, because your RESPONSES alone, are poetic! Wow, lots of imagery twisted around and around into a beautifully rendered compliment or whatever. Thanks from the pit of my stomach and the bottom of my heart.......

Your post is so beautifully written. It expresses a perspective that is opposite of mine regarding the "youth" spoken of in rain's poem.
Thank you Lizzytysh…

imaginary friend writes:
I agree – Rain's poem was wishing she was Leonard's contemporary, not born 30 + years later than he.

Your point is made in such a respectful, gentle manner, Lizzy
I agree imaginary friend…

.....

For me, the poem isn't just about a young woman wishing she'd been Leonard’s contemporary and not born 30+ years later than he, caught up as she is in the lamentations of youth, lost youth and that older man 'Silvering into sterling'. Treated autonomously, it can be read on several different levels.

For me, it is about something beautiful being birthed, and we are drawn in because we feel the pulsating ache of its sentiment. As Rain's poem pitches itself forward, we can respectfully embrace its diverse countenance in the ongoingness of its poetic thought. Rain's imagination produces aged wisdom while speaking through youth, of youth and can be accepted without age-old limits.

I woke up the other morning out of a dead sleep with the phrase "silvering into sterling" in my head and it sort of morphed into this thing about LC
"And it was at that age… Poetry arrived in search of me"…

Thanks for posting your poem Rain :D
