why can't we just be satisfied with being with someone, enjoying that moment not trying to own it or justify it. Just live it...
That sounds like it could be love in it’s purest form.

Queen - somebody to Love
I just gotta get out of this prison cell - Someday I'm gonna be free, Lord!

slightly off topic but it really is a beautiful love song and it is about endings and wantings.
queen again - Love of my life

(edited out comments - It didn't have a real point I was just wandering/wondering. I'm afraid I relate to well to parts of the poem and got hung up on my own stuff.)

Hi c

Loved the queen - 'Love of my life' song... I have loads of queen stuff but I have never heard that song before. it was beautiful.

And 'Sombody To Love' has always been a favourite of mine.

Thanks for your comments, always nice to have a different perspective.

Hi Karren,
Love your poem, its really beautiful, and i think a lot of people can relate to those words, i certainly can.
I think we can never be completely free and happy here and have a sense of satisfaction. Our souls are longing for their true home, wherever that may be. They are on a journey also and sometimes life and reality is a real pain for them.

Hi G,

Glad you liked it.

I know what you mean about our souls longing for their true home, a place of fulfilment and contentment, lets hope they find it one day.

I think many people long for something, and sometimes they will settle for the safe option (the comfort zone) even monotony. But sometimes that's not enough.

Hi Karren
We have to accept that everybody is different and to some people the safe option ( comfort zone ) is all they crave . It might seem a little strange to other people but thats just how it is . There is no right way or wrong way here just your own way to try and find happiness

Love for the long haul

It’s not in a kiss or from heartbeats that miss
Where the gift of love can be found
Or in the array of each valentines day
When romance is tied up and bound

It’s among many years of devotion
Where the gift of love stands proud
No short term contract notion
Or infidelity clause allowed

It must be love for the long haul
All secret emotions laid bare
Where true affection nurtures and feeds
A special bond of care

So when mortal life is over
The gift of love will be free
To follow the souls of two people
Into eternity

Hi YL

What a beautiful poem!

You're very lucky if you can find that sort of love and devotion! (Even luckier if you find it and get to keep it - not always the case).

Exquisite poem, YL [I'll join in that brief reference, too].
So true and so fortunate for those who are able to find and build those deeper levels of love.

Most of us find love at some point in our lives but you do not find devotion you create that by tirelessly working at the love you have found then and only then do you have the chance to keep the love.It is not always easy but but usually worth it !

Yorkshire Lad loved your poem,it reminded me of my parents marriage which was wonderful,I wonder sometimes if they realized how lucky they were, but I'm sure they did.
Karren I think that was one of your best poems, some verses there really rang a bell with me,especially this one

I smell the scent of new mown hay.
I think of all I could have done.
I feel the breeze across the field
Whilst lying in the midday sun.

and

I dream you’re lying by my side,
I long to know your gentle touch,
To feel your breath upon my skin,
Is something that I yearn so much.

Good poem.

Sometimes the chance to keep that love is taken out of your hands! I wrote something a few weeks ago called If 'I Close My Eyes' it's on page 2, maybe it will answer a few questions(or create more?) And I agree if you ever do find it then hang on to it at any price!!

Thank you kwills for your comments.

Not sure if it's one of my best poems, maybe one where I let my defenses down.

Maybe I should have said the one I enjoyed the most then, but there was one poem you wrote and have since deleted I think, that had one line in it which has stuck with me.I think Cate commented on it too and summed it up basically, when you wrote the line,' your name moist upon my lips' I think it was that, such an excellent line,as good as Leonards' 'Take this longing from my tongue' which keeps going round my head!I feel the need sometimes to pull this longing from my tongue!! I think you feel it too.

Hi kwills

I think this is the one you mean. (probably the first thing i wrote that was out of my usual comfort zone)

Your Name Still Moist Upon My Lips

I drifted off to sleep last night with your name
still moist upon my lips,
and thoughts of laughter, lust and longing
wandering around my mind looking for somewhere to rest.

I dreamed that you were here last night with your head
Resting on my warm breast,
and your sensual hands moving slowly
over my naked body trying to pleasure my very soul.

I died when you were here last night and you took
me to a holy place
I hadn’t yielded to for many moons
and breathed life back into my exhausted, trembling body.

The sun crept in this morning and its incandescent
light touched my cheek,
I woke with your name still moist upon my lips.

Hi Karren
I read your poem "If I close my eyes " and it certainly answered some questions as to your sadness . Life can be cruel sometimes but I would like to send you this short poem I wrote for someone in a similar situation . Nothing anyone says can ease the pain only time will do that but I hope when you read this your life becomes just a little more bearable.

Living for today

Who knows how long our lives will last
Living is not counted in years
It is measured by making the most of our time
Amid the happiness and the tears
No one can predict tomorrow
We only live the here and now
Embracing all the precious love
Our mortality will allow
So no more talk of sadness
Life is for living ... today
If we cherish the memories dear to our hearts
That fate has sent our way
