Hi everyone... Gonna be glued to this site for the valuable info here. Good preparation is our responsibility, Leonard takes care of the entertainment. I'm going Saturday, have my accomodation sorted too in the Clarion Village self-catering.. Relishing it now I must say.

Carlowmike, you don't miss a trick. Thanks for posting that lovely article from the Indo. We're in safe hands with you alright! I reckon you'll have to remain incognito in Sligo or the forum members will ensure that there'll always be a pint in front of you to show our gratitude, leading to the clear and (not so) present danger of the show passing you by in an alcoholic haze

For Forum members who might have missed my early posting of
23rd February 2010.

Pre-concerts meet-up venue for Leonard Cohen Forum members

over the July / August weekend

is The Garavogue, 15-16 Stephen Street, Sligo.A pub and restaurant alongside the Garavogue River in Sligo town.

They will be expecting us on the concert days from 10am ....Breakfast / Lunch / Dinner etc.

The Library Bar in the Garavouge will be reserved for long-term Forum members who wish to renew contact with fellow members from previous meet-ups and for members who have travelled from overseas. 8)
{ Added; May 2010 }
Buses will be leaving for the nearby carpark for Lissadell from 3pm on both days.
Getting to the Venue on time should not be a problem however there may be problems on return as we will have 12,000 people departing Lissadell, all at the same time.
We hope that some lessons will have been learned from Westlife post-concert experience of previous night and that the Police / Guards will have a traffic plan in operation. ;-)
I will keep you informed as we learn more. I intend to visit Sligo again to finalise some details.
Some members have contacted me off-forum enquiring about late opening restaurants and also about possibilty of after-concert meet-up, in light of the logistics pertaining in the aftermath of the concerts it may not be possible to advise on same.
As I mentioned before one hotel has offered use of Ballroom but for a hire fee of 200 euro !. :o

Hi carlowmike--reading above does that mean garavouge arrangement is not for all members? :(

In answer to question in previous Post :
The Garavouge is HQ and designated pre-Concert meet-up Venue for all members of this Forum...
( premises holds about 900 people)

The Library Bar in the Garavouge, holds about 50 people,
I thought The Library Bar would be a "corner" where long-term Forum members and friends from previous
meet-ups could "meet-up"...

otherwise friends could be trying to make contact amidst over 800 members on the premises ...( many from outside Ireland and phoneless 8) ).

At the end of the day the Garavouge is a Public House and so will be open to all --
even the refugees
from the previous night's Westlife concert .. :?
be kind to them.

TO Carlow Mike....You are doing some great work., with all the Info. you have on accommodation etc.,
on Sligo....!! You should be involved in Bord Failte!!...we need more people like you now., 8) :)

I think you have answered my query regarding the Garavogue in Sligo., and where it is etc.,
as we are hoping to come along there after the Concerts, to link up with fellow Cohenites!

I was wondering also do you have any idea where the Great Man and his band maybe staying?
as you have such knowledge of everything else happenning., ? If we knew, we might stay there in the hope we might bump into him by chance (it has happenned to a some friends of a friend of mine...twice...he was last in Dublin)
or is there a chance he might call into the Garavogue?? what a Dream come true this would be for all of us!!!!
However, I presume the relevant Hotels they maybe staying in are most likely booked out by now!

Cheers from Galway,
Josiecyberspace 8) :)
