LadyLilley wrote:I just love the new song titled The Darkness
I have listened to it repeatedly and believe I have the lyrics correct.
There are a few changes to what has been posted here already..of course I could be wrong
someone will be sure to correct me if I am.
LadyLilley - I haven't compared completely - but I think you are absolutely right about "caught" - and not "got." At least in the last repetition it definitely sounds like "caught." The beginning - what I am hearing - sounds more like "got" - but - dunno for sure. Could be he starts out with "got" and then in the last verse advances to "caught?"

Brilliant! "Caught" the darkness - just like a damned contagious flu! Haha! I will change that word in what I posted. Thanks!

It's so sexy and I just love it, makes me want to dance. I'm always so shocked when I watch Leonard play guitar, he's got his own style and I've never seen anyone play like him. Amazing. So thankful for Arlene's (bridger15 ) great videos and for everyone who has figured out the lyrics (so far)

I totally agree with MusicCityGypsy: it is wonderful to watch Leonard play guitar! It always looks like he is gently caressing the strings, it's a very sensual playing style! Now we have two new songs on which he does his amazing guitar thing, and he seems to be enjoying it so much! As are we! These new songs rock!
(And, I also love Lullaby, which is so tender and comforting. It's nice to think that if things go wrong, Leonard will be there to sing me through the long night!)

This is correct. I erroneously wrote in an earlier post in this thread that the first time Lullaby was played in concert was at Grand Prairie, TX April 3, 2009. What I (apparently) meant was that the Grand Prairie show was the first time it was sung in concert with a recording being uploaded to YouTube. Or something. My apologies for the mistake.

I am publishing a series of posts about the Three New Songs From The Leonard Cohen World Tour (which I've cleverly titled, “Three New Songs From The Leonard Cohen World Tour”) in an attempt to organize the readily available recordings of each, the lyrics, and the basic data about when/where each song was performed. (Little, however, in the way of analysis of style, musicology, interpretation, and such matters sullies this series of posts.) As I've (also cleverly) demonstrated in this thread, I am fully capable of screwing this up. Consequently, I would appreciate Forum members interested in these songs to check these posts and let me know if there are errors of commission or omission so that the final product is accurate. The first of these posts, focusing on "Lullaby" went online a few minutes ago at

Posts on "The Darkness" and "Feels So Good" should appear in the next few days if my offspring cooperate.
Thanks in advance for your help.

DrH, will it be possible for you to post mp3's of the songs?

DrHGuy,
"Feels So Good" is not really the the title of that song (we called it that before Leonard revealed the actual title). The real title is "The Prisoner Song". Just thought you might want to know. . .
Thank you so much for your wonderful posts.

Hi Rachel,
I have a stage set list from Las Vegas and the song is called "Feels So Good". Where did you see it called "The Prisoner Song"?

I am relying on the same set list for the name. My understanding, which may be flawed, is that no official name has been ordained for the song, but once"Feels So Good" turned up on the set list, I made the assumption that it is at least the working title and decided to use it until informed otherwise. So, if another, more authoritative name is in use, please let me know the circumstances.
I just did a quickie Google search for "Leonard Cohen" and "prisoner song" (also "prisoner's song") and the only hit that turn up, at least high on the list, is an entry earlier in this thread. That's hardly proof positive, but the large number of hits for "Leonard Cohen" and "Feels So Good" seems to indicate that the latter name is the one in popular use.

I mailed Roscoe shortly after the Chicago concert and he replied that "Feels So Good" is the working title.

Oh. . . so sorry about that.
I actually don't remember where I saw the title of Prisoner Song; all I remember is that I saw that title sometime after we had been using the title Other Blues Song & Feels So Good; so I guess, for some unknown reason, I just assumed that Prisoner Song was the actual title (maybe to me it sounded more like a title that Leonard would give to that song). Anyway, I was wrong, sorry for the confusion, thank you for clarifying. . .
