Well be that as it may but you'll have to find your own rock to call "Hudson"

. Coz' I've already named it "Kalpana" after Kalpana Chawla the space engineer who died in the Columbia tragedy. But I don't see it as an avatar or a cemetery....."Kalpana" means imagination....I see the picture as a window through which your imagination can take wings.

(As Gregorian calendar was introduced into practice here in 1918 only, the memory of “old”, Julian, one is alive as yet – especially since our Orthodox Church still uses Julian calendar. So we have an additional cause for celebrating – so called “Old New Year”. And it’s just today. It isn’t so, of course, that we “celebrate” it in the full sense of the word but sometimes some parties occur.)

I couldn't open any of those covers of Ne me Quitte Pas" because of the Russian characters, I believe. "Bad request" the browser kept telling me. Try other download sites or any best of brel CD. The theremin version is intersting. I'm told the Live '61 at the Olympia is the best.

i wonder if they bashed the english version?? for some reason french just doesn't translate so well when it comes to love and loss

As an alternative to an expensive boxed set, there is a recent Jacques Brel double cd compilation called Infiniment, which has 40 of his songs(including Ne me quitte pas) When I played it there were several others I recognised as they have been covered by other artists over the years.

Also, Charles Aznavour is wonderful either in English or French!

I'm so glad you got Infiniment. I wrote an American Amazon review of it and recommend it to everyone here. "La Quete," from "Man of La Mancha"(Don Quixote) will be familiar to English speaking people, as will "Amsterdam", covered by David Bowie, "Le Moribond" covered by Terry Jacks and others as "Seasons in the Sun", and "Au Suivant" and "La Chanson de Jacky" covered by Scott Walker and Mark Almond as "Next" and "Jacky", "La Chanson des Vieux Amants and "Marieke" were sung in French and French-Dutch by Judy Collins, the American folk and art song singer who introduced Leonard Cohen.The originals for many of the Mort Shuman loose translations known as "Jacques Brel is Alive and Living in Paris" are to be found here as well as five previously unreleased songs. It's a fine "Best of" compilation!
