Thanks Lizzytish re the support for our beloved kitty! still miss her terribly.
I sure hope we all get to go to at least one more concert...love to meet you again and see you Mary and Lady Di and of course Kelsey and her new baby....I will try to come to as many concerts as I can.. depending where they are and if they are...
it really was so nice to meet all of you...of course I wish I was up there in the front with all of you at the concert
but what to do...
Re the lyrics...I am now playing old CD's in the car and singing along...but at least once a day I put in the Live in London
which is the addiction...
I see it as a positive thing..the addiction and singing..
Enjoy the rest of the summer...
See you in the fall somewhere, somehow..

The songs keep running through my head at all times, beautiful lyrics...
I am always playing his music when I drive...
The biggest thing is I notice no matter who I am talking to or with
that within in a few minutes someone has said a word or group of words
which are part of a Leonard Cohen song...and I finish the sentence with his lyrics...usually in my head sometimes outloud.
I am aware of this and think although it is beautiful
that I should stop listening for a week
and see if this continues..
eg...in a normal conversation someone may say..everybody knows...blah blah
or I'm waiting for a ....and my mind starts singing waiting for a miracle to come...
it happens at least once in every conversation I have with people.
Now I do look at this in a positive light dont get me wrong
but..
I am wondering if others are having this same thing?

Hey there Mutti, I wouldn't worry about it really. I think if you're considering this abnormal or a problem to have, I think it's a nice problem to have.
I can sort of relate, every couple days, every couple conversations I have with people during a day, I find that many phrases or lines of Leonard come into mind as if they almost fit the situation, sometimes I'll blurt out a line and no one will know what I'm talking about or I'll just keep it to myself.
I also think that you're just really into his music, maybe it's (still?) something of a whole and new other world to you, like it has usually been for me.
What else could you expect... for his music and what he has to say in it to go in one ear and out the other?
Stop listening for a week? No way man!
You're turning what comes out of people's mouths into song, I believe songwriters do this?
The songs keep running through my head
I suppose he told you everything that I keep locked away in my head.

Ha! Thats great....
Last night I woke every hour for some reason and when I rolled over
one song was playing in my mind like a tape..all night long...
I need to sit and meditate and still my mind..empty it
but then of course more songs and lyrics would roll in so
I am just enjoying it for now....

There could be a reason that this keeps going through your head, one song after another. Maybe it's trying to tell you something or at least to think of something?
Maybe it's all an echo of things you've been through, are going through or think you will go through?
Perhaps it's becoming like a soundtrack to your life? I think of certain songs when I look at some ugly street corner or a curb that has absolutely nothing to do with the song I'm thinking of (for example).

Sometimes music can have this and other strong affects to it, especially from someone like L.C who puts a lot of conviction and feeling into it, it's speaking to you and that's not such a bad thing...most music doesn't and won't.

Do keep in mind that it could be none of this, that I'm reading into things too much and that you're just finding the music catchy or are inspired by it. I don't mean to sound all spooky if I'm coming off like that.
And do keep in mind that you're speaking to fellow addicts of this music, so it's all good.

You can't imagine how difficult it is to try to meditate while listening in your head: "I swear it happend just like this / a sighy, a cry, a hungry kiss / The Gates of Love they budged an inch / I can't say much has happend since"...
Nearly impossible! You can't calm your body down if what it seems to want is to dance!

Try Tacoma Trailer. Good music by which to empty one's mind, chord by chord.

I am driving back to L.A. from a BRIDGE tournament up the coast when I see a highway sign for "Malibu Beach". I already banned Leonard's CD's from my car. Too dangerous to drive while listening. When I saw that sign, I couldn't help myself. I could hear him singing in my head.

And everybody knows that youre in trouble
Everybody knows what youve been through
From the bloody cross on top of calvary
To the beach of malibu
Everybody knows its coming apart
Take one last look at this sacred heart
Before it blows
And everybody knows

I see it as a positive thing...at least its better than all the usual clutter the mind has in there..
I also see it as an addiction/obsession...friends say at least you got to see him twice this tour..and I reply...
(with a song streaming through my mind)
thats nothing..
sigh...
its interesting which songs come..
its is crazy
but what to do but enjoy it and love it...

One last thing I have to add... when I was in 6th grade, I had a Hall and Oates song stuck in my head for about 6 or 7 months, I wanted to blow off my head off so it would go away. So, at least you have L.C's songs in your head and not garbage like this!
