Singer Leonard Cohen to perform in Israel

After countless rumors and anxious anticipation, Leonard Cohen will arrive in Israel this coming September, as part of his European tour.
According to the singer's official forum, Cohen, who will turn 75 later this year, is expected to perform in Israel on September 24th.
An attorney for Marcel Abraham, who will produce the concert, confirmed to Haaretz that the Israeli gig will indeed take place, and said that he has received an E-mail finalizing Cohen's arrival.
Although the location of the event has yet to be determined, Abraham's attorney Hagi Schterweiss said Ramat Gan stadium is being considered as a possible venue.
Schterweiss concluded by saying he expects the concert will be one of the best ever to have taken place in Israel.

Even after seeing him abroad, I know that the Israeli gig (please, no cancellation this time) will be something I wouldn't miss for the world. We love him so much and have been waiting for so long - people will be strolling around the stedium days ahead...
Thank you so much Jarkko - for the good news, for your patience concerning all of our never-ending and repeating-themselves questions in the past year. You are great.

I am almost as old as Leonard Cohen. Some of the best memories of my long life is the 6 months I spent in a kibbutz in Israel in 1965 and of seing Leonard Cohen live last summer. I am so happy those two memories will join in a Leonard Cohen Concert in Israel. Shalom to all.
Love
Suzanne

I am delighted LC is to perform in Israel. I have family there and spent many wonderful summers in their kibbutz and in Tel Aviv.
Shalom to all his Israeli admirers! Ignore the bad vibes coming from ignorant and bigoted people!

Ramat Gan Stadium to host Leonard Cohen in September
Leonard Cohen, well-known Canadian Jewish singer will perform at the Ramat Gan Stadium near Tel Aviv in September. The Stadium management and Cohen's producer Marcel Abraham have announced that the performance will take place on September 18 as a previous engagement has been re-scheduled. Cohen last visited Israel in 1973 when he performed before IDF soldiers
In the list I got from AEG London last night, Tel Aviv is still listed on September 24. Leonard will be in Bilbao, Spain, on September 17, and I don't think they could have next concert as far as in Israel next day!

Jarkko,
I don't want to confuse anyone further - but was the original date the 21st or the 24th?

Well, I guess we will just have to wait for the precise information...
***Thanks for alarming me - indeed I had a typo in my previous message. Of course Tel Aviv has been listed for Sept 24 and not 21. Barcelona is on 21st. (I edited my message and the date is now correct = 24) / Jarkko***

I have now checked Israeli online sources and found no new information about this. As soon as there is, I will post it.
