I've emailed Ticketmaster to ask them if they are actually selling the tickets for the Edinburgh gig. They claim to respond to all emails within 24 hours so here's hoping

I've never heard of anyone pre-registering with Ticketmaster, I don't think that's possible. I would love to know if any other agents are selling the tickets though. A few weeks ago I tried to buy tickets for another artist from Ticketmaster (after being directed by their website), I was told, only ten minutes after sale start time, that they were sold out but I then found plenty more tickets available, cheaper, from other agencies. I can all get a bit confusing.

Could Edinburgh Castle be a reunion for all the Apollo 'graduates'? Did anyone go to the event at Sloan's last week? I only found out about it 10 minutes before it started

As long as its not raining Edinburgh Castle will be just fine. Hell.... even if it is raining it will be fine!! All we need now is a ticket though..

I've had a reply from Ticketmaster and they say they have no information regarding the Edinburgh concert at the moment. This is all very confusing as, elsewhere on here, we are told they are the sellers. HELP!!!

Wow Edinburgh Castle...here's a wee story
One of my very first memories is being maybe 4 or 5 and waking up on New Years Day at around 3 in the morning, tip-toeing downstairs...we lived in Scotland at this point and had my family up from Newcastle every New Years...I got downstairs to find my mum and her sister with the music blasting, patio windows open, singing along...It was only later I was told it would have been Leonard Cohen and they were pretending to be his "Angels" (something they still do, 20 years later, after a glass of wine or two hehe)
So, Edinburgh Castle is synonymous with NYE so I reckon fate will intervene and get us tickets!! Hopefully 8 of us going...in between the ages of 20 to 50. I think this says a helluva lot more about Leonard Cohen's music than any review could

I live about the same distance from London and Edinburgh. Does anyone have any thoughts on whether the O2 or Edinburgh Castle would be the best venue to see LC? I'm thinking Edinburgh...

Edinburgh Castle will be a great venue for LC, and far superior to O2, for me anyway. It holds about 8000 and can be a mix of standing/seated depending on the gig. If you want to see some of the seating possibilities then go to ticketsmaster and search on The Proclaimers, Runrig, Lou Reed, Girls Aloud, Boyzone who are all playing the castle the same month!

They all allow you to check out the seating plan for the respective gig. Although The Proclaimers eventually have sold out, none of the others have as yet, despite being quite 'big' names, and all been on sale for a month. 8000 is a lot of tix to sell when there are many thousands of tix available at other venues at the same time.

For myself LC is the man and has been a big part of my life for years. However, the huge majority of people I meet, upon hearing that, will have a negative comment to say. Thats just the way it is and thats been the way for the last 20 years. Therefore I do not see this being a ticket 'riot' in the way that Neil Young was, another artist I like a lot (and get a very different reaction from the masses when I mention I'm a fan). He sold out in a coupla hours 3000 tix for the Playhouse, but must have a huge fanbase in comparison.

Also, for anyone who's actually in Edinburgh, I phoned Ripping Records this afternoon and they told me they would have tickets available themselves from 9 on Friday. So it might be worth taking a detour on the way to work rather than trying to get through to Ticketmaster and their absurd booking fees.

Tickets Scotland are listing Edinburgh Castle tickets on their site so you may be able to get them in person from the shop on Rose St. or possibly the Glasgow branch on Argyle St as well. You'd still have to pay booking fee but at least you'd escape the astronomical postage costs
