Lizzy I must bring some realism into this myth that seems to be developing about my marriage . We do fallout from time to time . It is not complete harmony infact we have a fridge magnet that says " we only stay together because of the dogs "

I would have been married 38yrs this year as well, but he lost the fight against cancer in 2002, but on the bright side, he bought me a little statue with a nagging wife, and underneath is writtern, " Any opinion expresses by the husband of this household, are not necessary those of the managment.

Hi Denise... page number 91 now, and thanks to your comments we may just reach 200... as Oscar Wilde said... if you only aim for the top of the tree, you may never get off the ground, but if you aim for the stars, you may reach the top of the tree
Glad that you enjoy this thread so much. It really was a magical weekend and we don't want to let go of it just yet .
Loved the message that your late husband sent you by the way.

I'm sorry to hear of your loss of your husband, Denise. The small gift he gave you is sweet and no doubt a fond memory.
Phil ~ I've no idea of this myth, no doubt based on rumours. Somehow, I cannot imagine 38 years together absent strife in one form or another, including that experienced by the writer of the song. Still, in the end, when you've stayed together through it all, the tenderness must surely prevail... or the dogs will... whichever way the wind blows. I like Ken's adaptation there.

This subject generated some curiousity in me so I googled the worlds longest marriage and apparently it is a Taiwanese couple who have been married for 83 years . Wow think of the dogs they have got through in that time ! The wife was quoted as saying it was all down to "give and take " . What she really meant to say was he gave and she took !! Happy days !

There you go again Ken trying to trick a wily old yorkshireman but everybody knows the oldest woman in the world must be dead . That is the only way we know she has broken the record ! Not just a pretty face !
