Russian Brel site

Helven, There is a Russian Brel site which is very complete and has computer translations (awful but better than nothing) into English.

<http://pantin.boom.ru/texts>

the full address is too long to copy but you can find it. There are loose English translations by Mort Shuman in a play called " Jacques Brel is Alive and Well and Living in Paris". It is easy to find this 2 LP or Cd set on Amazon, Ebay or wherever. It will be difficult to understand Brel with no French at all, but he's a good reason for learning it.

I’ve run through the site. It calls now http://www.frmusique.ru and contains a lot of information not about Brel only! I haven’t seen English texts yet (French ones only) but maybe I’ll find them with help of the links. Otherwise….. yeah, I’ll have to learn French.
Anyway, there’s a big article about JB there. Thanks!

There should be a link that says "translate this page".

It should be there… But there isn’t… I’m afraid those translations were on the previous site only :( … Okay, I’m proceeding to French. :)

*************
...but I've finally found some Russian translations! They're very few and their quality is rather low, as well, but - yes! - it's better than nothing.

This is the address for the translation site for Brel from French into English. I also recommend Babelfish, a good Larousse and some French friends you can pester with questions.

One who is coming to the Manhattan 2004 event has a Brel website called "Six pieds sous terre tu chantes encore." His name is Bert Rodier. If his English is as good as most Europeans we could pester him.

I hope those who will have an opportunity to see him in Manhattan will share their impressions with me! :) (This trip to Manhattan, due to certain circumstances, seems to me something “transcendental”. But my heart will be there! :D )

Hi George ~ I'm not sure what you mean with your comment....to whom are you referring, who is to be remembered as someone who was good?

Helven ~ You understand that the Event isn't in regard to Leonard himself being there, right? When you say "him" are you referring to the man that Lightning mentioned, who has the Jacques Brel site?

Thanks to you both :) .

~ Lizzy

Hi Lizzy, :D

Yes, of course, I understand that Leonard himself won’t be there! And, yes, I meant Bert Rodier Lightning told about. :)

Yeah, it looks like my words were hazy a bit...

Yours,
TH.

Regarding the meaning of life, consider the hokey pokey.......
What if that's really what "it's all about"?

What is the meaning of life?

If the 'meaning of life' was something that we could, with our minds of 'meaningfulness', conceive, then I think it would not be much. Is there any doubt that, when life's epitome is known and/or experienced, that words would necessarily fail to grant an account of its un-speakable gloriousness. Perceptions of life can be changed. Depending upon perception, we may be elated or chagrinned, ecstatic or disconsolate. I can't prove it, but I will say that when one's perceptions align with Truth (what is So) 'Heaven' Itself is the case, the domain, amidst which the person finds themself, irrespective of 'circumstances'. Life cannot fall within the limitations of language. It is pure Meaningfulness Itself. This is what I figure.
