Got a text last night from the point , Counting Crows are appearing there on Dec 20th . The point being that the point will be open on Dec 20th,which is one day earlier that the Coldplay concert on the 21st . So hopefully they can get there act together for early December.

Are there any as big venues in Dublin as The Point, or preferably bigger?
I don't think they can take the concert to any smaller venue than 3000 seats, and
even that is quite small - and unfortunately means higher ticket prices.

In Dublin there is nothing as big the point the new o2, but there are a few reasonably sized venues.
The RDS has a few halls which are bigger the RDS hall can take up to 7,000 and RDS simmonscourt is 3,000 - 5,000 depending on seating arrangements.

In Belfast however we have the Odyssey 8,500 fully seated and 10,000 with the ground floor standing, or a centre stage.

There are regular ferries across the sea and often very cheap flights between Liverpool and Dublin (about £20 return - much cheaper than a train to London )

There are also regular cheap flights between Belfast (as well as other Irish cities) and Liverpool

I think the Waterfront Hall in Belfast would be a superb venue for a December concert, looks like it's not booked for 5 and 6 December, could the Tour Management please, please at least consider it.

The Waterfront would be amazing for Leonard unfortunately I think he would have to play about 10nights as it only holds about 2000. But it is a beautiful hall and the stage would be amazing with the whole band on it.

On a personal level I beleive that the Point can, and will, accomadate an early December date for Cohen's return to Ireland. It is just a spritual hunch,or maybe it is a money spinner,not sure.

Either way, as far as I am concerend, I would sincereley love to see, the most inspirational poet and lyrycist of our generation,in our midst once again.

The kings of leon have been confirmed at the o2 on the 19th december, and not only that they are playing the odyssey as well, so that is the first 3 acts confirmed for the o2 also playing belfast , very very excited now that Leonard could play the odyssey on the 1st and dublin on the 2nd

I'm following with great interest the "Point--counterPoint" question....doesn't sound encouraging, BUT, if by chance Leonard were to play in Dublin, then I could fly from Baltimore to Dublin, and have a great vacation. Now, I live in Florida, but will be in Baltimore in December....I'll keep checking the community....

The thing about those three concerts (Kings of Leon, Counting Crows and Coldplay) confetti is they're all being promoted by MCD. When Leonard played Kilmainham during the summer i think he was promoted by POD/Aiken. Unfortunately they have nothing planned for theO2 yet, but maybe (hopefully) Leonard will be their first! I don't think POD/Aiken promote much in the north so i don't think there's much chance of Leonard playing Belfast (but hopefully i'm totally wrong there).

Or maybe Leonard will jumpship to MCD and he will play Dublin and Belfast AH! I just wanna know whether he's going to play in our emerald isle or not! I don't care if it's Dublin, Belfast, Athlone or Dundalk, I just wanna see him!

you're right Morrissey I hadn't thought of the fact that Aiken had done the Kilmainham one. How upsetting. I suppose it will have to be dublin then
