Hi to all "Cat Steven" fans,

I also admire his music. I have the sheet music to Morning has Broken (piano). But it's somewhat intricate for me. My fingers just will not glide over the keyboard as quickly as I want them to. I comfort myself that not everyone can be a musican. I am a good cook though!

Lizzytysh...I just recvd the Rafi Hagopian CDs. Thanks very much..in fact I had completely forgotten about them so it was quite a surprise.
I've been hearing the more Mediteranean collection (Enchanting Violin Music) which makes NY a little more bearable right now coz' it is freezing.
Excellent excellent collection...I was quite surprised coz' it is more lively than what I was expecting - I guess something on the lines of Itzhak Perlman. Thanks again.

Oh good, on all counts, Kush ! You're welcome! Yes, I know what you mean about Perlman ~ not the same . I'm glad you decided to take a chance on them. A surprize all the way around for you. My preference is also definitely the Enchanting Violin Music. Much more 'authentic.'

A great combination, when I think of it, Raffi's violin and New York .

Jury is in. I love Nick Cave's music. His plaintive voice and melodies, the images and sentiments in his lyrics. Been listening to "Let Love In" for two days now, with headphones at work. He takes me on a long, sensual ride with his rhythms, an undercurrent shared amongst the songs. You gotta know I like him when I start at 8 AM with "Do You Love Me?" It also reminds me of one scene of a burning house in the "8 Mile" movie on Eminem, as commentary on his girlfriend and their fledgling love. Impossible to choose favourites at this point. The images in "Loverman" are so great, standing outside the door. I love its intensity, subdued and otherwise. "I Let Love In," "Lay Me Low," "Do You Love Me? [1 & 2]" ~ who knows? Even though I hate those Edit messages, I had to add, "It Ain't Gonna Rain Anymore." Pick a favourite? You must be kidding . I'll get back to The Boatman's Call [at some point ].

How is he onstage with his performances? Serious like Leonard, or he/his group moving about a lot?

The first place is reserved for my three absolute heroes:

Leonard Cohen, Mark Knopfler and Eric Clapton

(yes I do listen to various styles)

Mark writes a different style of songs, but aside from his great guitar playing he is a greatly gifted songwriter. Listen to The Ragpicker's Dream or Telegraph Road... he's just great.

Eric was my initial motivation to pick up my guitar again after a break of 4 years. I havent put it down since 1993
Also his songs are really great too. Tears in heaven I assume is well known but it always impresses me how honest it is without sounding corny... Something I still have to learn

on the following places there are people like Paul Simon, F. R. Degenhardt (only people who understand german can appreciate this man) or James Taylor... there are many more...

I might even hate being Nick Cave's present ~ ya' just never know about these guys. So, do you know [if she is dead] if she was dead when the song was written? Or, just out there alone? I was amazed by how much I like his music. Simply because the only couple things I'd heard were very limited, being from his early days.
