Must not complain but I am going to anyway ! We have both been pestered with the flu . But then so has eighty per cent of the population around these parts . I suspect it will linger on and on until the weather changes !
A shame about your washing machine you will have to go down to the banks of the Liffey and scrub your smalls on a pummy stone like your grandma used to do ! Or just phone the repair man that might be easier

Lie dormant in the cold
It's simply a fact of life
As Pete and I grow old
But worry not we will be back
Vibrant and full of vigour
For I am told as men grow old
Their ditties just get bigger

I remember when my ditties
First appeared to me
I was only in my teens
That's how it was, you see.

I had so much to explore
With ditties at that age
No sense of rhyme or reason
As they filled up every page

I dittied here and dittied there
But often lost for words
My ditties were still growing
Never seen but always heard

I tried them on with all the girls
I showed them my best ditty
But all they did was laugh and squeal
With not an ounce of pity

Maybe I was trying too hard
With ditties that wouldn't flow
I needed much more expertise
Not just above - below.

So I made my ditties deeper
In every way I could.
I dredged for hidden meanings
To help with adulthood.

And then I had new ditties
Which rhymed with such panache
I tried them every single day
But came out in a rash

But this did not deter me
And I practised line and verse
And found the one who loved my ditties
For better and for worse

And as the years they passed me by
I spread my ditties wide
And the more I shared my ditties
The more they swelled with pride.

And now I bare my ditties
For all of you to see
I don't think that they've shrivelled
But maybe that's just me?

I may be getting on a bit
My ditties have grown old
I type here in my thermals
To keep them from the cold

So thank you all for your concerns
And not forgetting Phils'
Our ditties they will not decay
We'll keep on popping pills.

This ditty that I give you
Has now reached its last verse
Such an enormous ditty
A blessing - not a curse.

...pete i really did my very best to try to read all about your 'little ditties' without falling into the double entendre trap that you had set for us all...but unfortunately i only got as far as the second line before i fell hook line and sinker....excellent stuff.....but you are a very very naughty boy
