Presumably all this might well be repeated with the European launching of the book? After all, it is a large market. Just a thought.

I just read the rest of the thread since I posted on it earlier. All of the stuff that you guys wrote about ebay and selling signatures and the arguments everyone made, and the inability to see opposing points of view made me proud to associate with such a wide array of intelligent smart asses. I got a kick out of those posts.
If the Spector signature is legit (which I tend to doubt) that would be worth having for historical and humorous reasons.
I would like to have something signed by him but for me it's about the words. In that vein:
That little poem that was posted made me think of something that Gregory Corso once said. The interviewer asked him why he became a poet and he said, (paraphrasing) "If you're a poet you've got no fuckin choice, man."
That was what I took Leonard's poem to mean. He was going to write no matter what. If he was compensated for it or not. So it's all the same with one like him.

I am a bit confused regarding Leonard Cohen's signature. I have found four alleged signatures by Mr. Cohen and all are different. There is no longer a picture of the book listed on EBAY that began this debate but I did find this one: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi ... :IT&ih=006

It is authentic. One of the many he signed for the Book of Longing campaign.
