I don't care if I, myself become a big recording star and WIN a Grammy, I ain't showin' up to claim it.......
THAT WAS PATHETIC.....Keep in mind that a lot of the "more improtant" artists they focused on will be LONG FORGOTTEN while artists like Leonard Cohen and Loretta Lynn (another artist they skipped over and barely mentioned) will STILL be talked about and listened to, long after they're gone......
That was the absolute WORST awards show I've ever seen......bar none.......unforgivable.....
Yep, I've told you how I really feel, sorry to flame, but I just don't care.
Sorry, Mr. Cohen, you DID NOT deserve to be slighted like that!

So Rain- I'm guessing that you wouldn't fault Leonard for showing up at this most prestigious of Follywood events - "unshaven."
And - actually - as I have said before, I do not respect that description as accurate - the way that it was reported in the media. I actually think he was
shaven to perfection!! His "unshaven" style was impeccably affected - très chic, très hip and très sexy! Perfectly fitting - a perfect expression for the event. A thing of beauty was he.
I tuned in to the Grammys - on and off - mainly off. I was in the other room and by the time I heard Seal saying "Hallelujah" - and ran in to watch - he had moved on to Pink.

In past years, I have found the Grammys to be mostly hideous. Just my personal taste - I'm sure lots of people love that stuff - well - they would have to - it is THE popular music that is selling. Isn't it? From what I saw last night, the theme seemed to be like massive Broadway productions or something - for each performer - massive stage props and backup singers and dancers!" Each performer was having their own little
cirque du soleil. Haha! OMG -
Also, while I know Leonard Cohen and Bob Dylan and Paul Simon are in NO WAY involved in any contests or competitions (other than in fan wars LOL), the three are regularly mentioned at the tip top of the list of singers/songwriters - for ages. And look at what as been afforded to Bob Dylan (a deserving artist) by the esteemed Grammys! He has received eleven Grammys (including Lifetime Achievement) - and six of Bob's songs have been ushered into the Grammy Hall of Fame.

Paul Simon (a most deserving artist) has won eleven Grammys - and his songs have been ushered into the Grammy Hall of Fame also!

So - I loved Leonard's understated and subtle humor and humility in his acceptance of the award. He is more than deserving of this Lifetime Achievement Award. And I loved his elegant speech at the Consulate the day before.
And I think the Grammys have some more attention to give to Leonard Cohen - regarding his magnificent song "Hallelujah." It should be ushered into the Grammy Hall of Fame forthwith. IMO
