Recently in the news - a craftsman made a large chair out of fence posts and had 15 people carry it to the summit of Cadair Idris. It must feel good to sit on it up in the clouds. I know you'll all be excited by the idea so let's put this task on the itinerary for Germany.

Oh my. No sooner had I posted about it than it had to be taken back down. The authorities said they can't have any Tom Dick or Harry putting furniture on mountainsides. I am certain the Germans will be even more strict about such things. So we will just have to sit in the pub and imagine it, over a glass of red wine. You can be the chairman for that task too Phil, well qualified as you are!

Now that sounds like a splendid idea Diane, we can discuss it at length, all night if you like over a nice german beer or even a good red wine. Roll on September :)

I wish "the authorities " would inform our local fly tippers of such rules and regulations .

Minutes of the inaugural meeting of M.F.I *( Mountain Furniture Initiative )
(* Not to be confused with the rival organisation D.F.S ( Down Furniture Society )who operate out of Batley and give you four years to transport your furniture off the mountain before you pay a penny

Agenda
Item 1 Seek permission to construct conservatory at summit of Mount Everest ( with double glazed units of course )
Item 2 Seek permission to run a gas pipe from the north sea to the Aga that we have carried to the top of Ben Nevis
Item 3 Contest the the Iclandic governments decision to reject the installation of a freezer on the top of every mountain due to global warming melting the the ice compartments
Item 4 Any other business
Item 5 Matters arising
Can we have a volunteer to organise a fire sale of all the furniture at the top of mount vesuvious

Bernie
I thought this might make you smile just could not resist it :

Democracy in Ireland

It’s coming from a stench in the air
From those nights in Merrion square
It’s coming from the feel
We will make the bankers squeal
And when they squeal we wont exactly care
From incompetent disorder
That went on everyday
From the fires of the homeless
To the drop in minimum pay
Democracy is coming on Election Day

It’s coming from a crack in county hall
On a promise that the ruling class will fall
From the staggering account
Of the deficit amount
Which I don’t pretend to understand at all
It’s coming from the silence
On the dock of Dublin bay
From the brave the bold the battered
That work there everyday
Democracy is coming on Election Day

It’s coming from the cries in Grafton Street
From the places where the Galway races meet
From the homicidal bitchin
In every Irish kitchen
To decide if they can buy enough to eat
From the wells of Holy Ireland
Where the women kneel to pray
From the wrath of god for the cheating here
And the cheating far away
Democracy is coming on Election Day

(Fianna) Fail On, Fail on
Oh mighty ship of state
Past the shores of need
To the reefs of greed
Through the squalls of hate
Fail on, fail on, and fail on

It’s coming to Southern Ireland first
Who had the best and now has got the worst
I think it’s kind of strange
That our lives will have to change
Because the grubby bankers had a thirst
And now the family’s broken
It’s here the people say
That politics has got to change
In a fundamental way
Democracy is coming on Election Day

I’m sentimental if you know what I mean
I love the country but I can’t stand the scene
And I’m neither left nor right
I’m just staying home tonight
Getting lost in this hopeless little screen
But I’m stubborn as those money bags
That greed has thrown away
I’m down but I’m still holding up
So I can have my say
Democracy is coming n Election Day

Phil that is truly magnificent I am nicking it too for my Facebook if that is OK. Send it to the Sun/Mirror/Mail/Times etc that is brilliant.

On a different note coming to work through Victoria Station this morning I saw a homeless guy pushing a shopping trolley with all his worldly goods but he was wearing a full blown Red Indian head gear complete with massive feathers. I really wish I knew the background story to that, It made me wish I had my camera with me and I could do a similar "my walk to work" that Bernie did.

Paula,
Maybe he wasn't homeless, but heading for a good busking spot.
There was a group of Native American Indians dancing outside the town hall in Chester recently in full native dress and feathers :)

That's unbelievable, Phil! You are brilliant with meaning, rhymes, and perfect choices of words! Been listening a LOT about the economy in Ireland and the anger there, and how many Irish are processing it through irony and satire as they stand around in Dublin pubs making their pointed comments. If you'd show up at one of them, you'd sure have a receptive and appreciative audience for doing an a capella of your adaptation.

I wish I had good reason to nick it, too. I think Paula's got the right idea on contacting media sources with it 8) .
