Summer Wine - do you mean the old Hazlewood tune with 'Nancy'? Boy, does that take me back!

Linda.
Yes, that's the one. I find it hypnotic in a way...

Hi Shane,

Thanks for the cover shot and the quote you left. Tom's remark makes much more sense now! It looks like it might be very heavy metal?? I liked the few lines you left. Definitely a site to check out (I assume there's a site?). Who, is the artist? Is Living in Darkness a band or a song. Jeez, a lot of questions being thrown at you! I'm sure Google has the answers. It does look very 'dark'. Are you a big fan of Leonard's?

On Summer Wine, it was a big hit, that much I remember, and the times I've heard it since, it's just nostalgia. I've not connected with that song in the same way you have, I don't think. I do love Lee's voice though.

Regards,
Linda.[/i]

OK, let me try to answer all those questions. The artist is called Bonnie Prince Billy. His real name is Will Oldham. He has also used the name Palace. It is not heavy metal. Not at all. It's quiet acoustic music. Pretty dark, yes. This is his best album in my opinion.

I am a big fan of Leonard. I love his early work, especially Songs of Love and Hate, and unlike most people I know I am not disappointed with his new albums.

As for Lee, I am just getting into him. He does have a great voice, and I really like his music. I really think I dedicated this summer to exploring his work.

Hi Shane,

Thanks for clearing up those little details for me! It would seem that I am sadly, out of the loop, in terms of music these days. I keep returning to my old favourites, and now, I find that there's so much more to investigate.

Bonnie Prince Billy. I think I saw that once before somewhere and didn't connect it at all to a musician! Acoustic and dark. Sounds like my kind of music. Thanks muchly.

Linda.

Hi T -,

I know I can tell you this, because it's a secret between just me and you, right? Promise? I don't know John Cale. The only Cale I know is J.J. Cale. You know Crazy Mama, etc. That Cale. I know people have said he does the best Hallelujah cover but, me? I know no shame. I will admit that that is all I know. For certain. I could cruise the web, yes, but, if you, T - a long visitor to my little piece of the board, could explain further, I'm listening. Glad you mentioned that, I didn't really want to ask anyone else.

Are John Cale and J.J. Cale one and the same?

Thank you, Sir,
Linda.

Oh, T, btw, does the prospect of seeing John Cale please you? Yes. I thought so. Is the chip left my MMM resemble a John Cale lyric?

Again, I thank you,
Linda.

After only just a teeny-weeny bit of research, I've been reminded of the fact, that there is someone who owes me a white cane. I believe it was over a DJ Bobo incident. No matter.

Linda.

There was something in that, which reminded me of Bonnie Prince Billy. I can't imagine why...hm.

Linda, Will Oldham aka Bonnie 'Prince' Billy aka Bonnie Billy aka Palace aka Palace Brothers aka Palace Music was much discussed here on this forum? Many people here likes him (ie Henning). He's something like clone of Leonard's Songs From a Room album, I criticised him few times here because of that. He's more or less in that bare, acoustic tune of Leonard's early albums, set in countriefied arrangements. He is himslef big LC fan, has great cover of Winter Lady.
CDs I See A Darkness and Ease Down The Road are must have!

Thank you for the link, Tom. I believe I have seen the name in print around here, but just didn't pay attention or was doing something else. But, there is definitely something worth checking this out!!

Oh. Henning likes BPB, aka BP, aka Palace, aka, etc....??? However could that be?

Thanks for the info.

Linda.
