My first visit to the internet since Sunday's concert, apart from a very brief look when we got back to our hotel at midnight. To be honest, I feel a bit superfluous. The concert had, apparently, been fully reported here, including photos and the setlist, before those of us at the show had even left the venue.
Apologies if any of the following comments duplicate what has already been said as I have only scanned the umpteen previous pages but for my money, this was a very "safe" show. It was the first show of a lengthy run and they took the easiest route, playing songs they have been playing since the earliest shows in the Maritimes back in May 2008 (with the notable exception of The Partisan and Waiting for the Miracle both of which I think made their first appearance c. mid 2009). Leonard and the band were on fine form and, in fairness they had changed some of the introductions and riffs, but they were well within their comfort zone all the way through. The biggest change on the night was the Webbs' bit in I Tried to Leave You which appeared to be totally new. Good for them.
This was also probably the shortest show we have ever been to, despite the 11.30 pm finish, due to the very late start and a longer than usual interval.
Despite all that, I did really enjoy the show. I found myself watching Leonard's every move and hanging on his every word in a way I have not done since I sobbed my way out of the 4th show at the Manchester Opera House in June 2008, which I thought would be my last LC show ever. However, I was also bitterly disappointed at the setlist. I thought the 2010 tour was going to be different - the 2008-9 tour was closed and there were going to be some changes in 2010. There were dozens of hints of changes (there was even one brand new song on the play list!) In the end there were virtually none. That it was such a good show was down to the Zagreb crowd who were absolutely wonderful - enthusiastic and exuberant.

Thank you to everyone who reported about the Zagreb show.
I am very curious about "Born in chains". Tom, since you heard the song at the soundcheck, can you tell us a little bit more about how it sounded? I just hope that it will find its way into the setlist. I remember that Jarkko once told us that he had heard "A thousand kisses deep" -the full song, not the poem- at the soundcheck in Helsinki and how wonderful it sounded, but as far as I know, it never made it into the actual setlist..Hope that he will play Lullaby, Feels so good, Darkness AND Born in chains at the Basel show...

I applaud your candour, Wendy. I felt the same way watching all the early vids on youtube and expressed the same disappointment in a half dozen email exchanges. And like you, I came around in the end to thoroughly enjoying what I saw, even from afar, because LC seemed to be enjoying it to so much feeding off the enormous enjoyment and acceptance by the enthusiastic Zagreb audience.
I suppose he kept the familiar song list with perhaps his usual fear, and we all have those, as he said to Jian Ghomeshi in the CBC Q interview, "You never know what's going to happen when you step on the stage."
But I came around to your way of thinking in the end. It was a superb concert. And from afar, I enjoyed it much more after watching the excellent videos by both Albert and Halfabee, our very own Forum
in situ videographers.

Halfabee - one of your pictures is of Javier and Dino - and Dino is playing his new Eigenharp (second from last picture). Do you know what song?

I felt disappointed with the set list at the Zagreb show as Leonard choose not to give us anything fresh whether a taste of something from the forthcoming new album or some different songs from the back catalogue. I also thought the band looked very reserved and dare I say even bored at some points. I hope as the tour evolves they decide to try something new.
