Here is my cynical take on this, for what it is worth. It is all marketing strategy.

AEG waited until the completion of the historic Beacon concert, which generated a great deal of media hype, before announcing the North American tour.

I think AEG is waiting until after the completion of tonight's Grammy telecast to announce the next tour dates. To be sure, there will be a clip of LC on tonight's telecast, which will have world wide exposure and generate world wide media hype.

That's my guess.

Well, of course, we're all aware that there are more important things to worry about in the world than the Leonard Cohen 2010 World Tour, but... Jarkko did not respond to the person who wanted to be reassured about Leonard's health... I didn´t book tickets because of personal reasons (moving to Asia). But I am anyway seriously concerned for Leonard and sad on behalf of all of you, who have bought tickets you might not be able to use.
I still do hope, Arlene, that you are right. Your theory sounds pretty reasonable.

So many people have spent the last 24 hours, de-cyphering/analysing/prophesising etc. about this up-date- and still we are in the dark. Such is the effect Leonard has on us.
What a pity Jarkko was unable to give us just a tiny glimmer of hope or reassurance; just repeated advice not to book flights. He must know we are concerned about Leonard. What are we meant to read between those lines??
