Lines from Within Tintern Abbey

He does not stand here in this ruin
of beauty and stone contemplating
nature and her all-encompassing spirit

as I listen to Spanish tourists
in gabble lilt organise a group
photo; Nikons, Canons and disposable

cameras strewn randomly on the
manicured patches of verge maintained
by the National Trust; he stands by the steep

slopes of Wye, her cataracts booming,
knelling his spirit to another
ruin nestled in the mind of those who long

to pilgrimage into a more deep seclusion,
restore the self to the service of Quietness.
Oh bless the continuous stutter
of the word being made into flesh
