A man who believed

Post by Boss »

I once knew a man who believed
that footballers were gods
he wore their numbers on his back
knew their heights, their favourite foods
A man who believed in monogamy
and Peter Pan and Superman
in Adam and Eve, in Noah's ark
that Oedipus had no problem
A man who believed in the BBC
in Lennon and McCartney
in the validity of the 60's
that Humanity was not one
A man who believed in father
his poem and hippy conviction
his love of Dylan and oysters
of wine, of Kafka, of Sartre
A man who believed in seance
of a rich life after death
of heaven and reincarnation
of an active spirit world
A man who believed in Buddha
and Christ and Hare Krishna
that God protects the innocent
that justice always wins
A man who believed in money
that when you saved your cash
you were saving your own self
that money was so sacrosanct
so very bloody good
A man who believed in leaders
the pretence, the facade, the lie
the privileged background baggage
the evil in their eyes
A man who believed in Monroe
Madonna and Sinatra
the hollow little photo shoots
the feeble little songs
broken Hollywood Boulevard
begging for your soul
A man who believed in religion
so dynamic, so alive
its teachers' god-damned holiness
infallible men in power
A man who believed in multi-national
the sugar-sweet big promise
then stealing your meagre savings
then telling you things were fine
the ecosystem won't die
economy was its friend
no other way was plausible
no other fucking way
A man who believed in casual sex
being human didn't require responsibility
or dignity, or both
A man who believed in hell
the resting place of the baddies
in The Exorcist, in The Omen
in Satan and the boogeyman
the fear they put inside him
'cause they were scared themselves

A man who died today

Sounds like my sort of man Boss.

But what was he doing hanging around you?

Mat James that man was me

I murdered him at morning time
I stabbed, I hit, I bludgeoned
I ached in freedom's buffer zone
I made it to my luncheon

I was a brand new man by then
New vistas opened out
Without a bull or sacred cow
Even you here cannot doubt

The clock struck six, I cut my hair
I slotted in the groove
But it was mine and it was me
Had nothing left to prove

So call me Boss or old ben Meyer
Call me what you like
I have no name, am no sick label
What's growing is my psyche

In time I'll walk right through a day
I'll listen if I must
I'll remember you as poor Mat J
And the things that we discussed

And from my hill I'll laugh out loud
At how you pissed me off
At how it didn't really matter
Of how I was so soft

Tell me Boss.

Is it "Blessed are the poor in spirit"
or
"Blessed are the poor; in spirit"

:?:

I believe in Truth.

Everything else is crap.

Unfortunately, 99.9999999%, is everything else.

Byron, that little bear of yours looks like the Buddha.

The pundulum of life swings, but we all know from childhood, if you want to stay on that swing and enjoy the ride, while life pushes us forward and back, we are best to sit on the seat; in the middle.

Maybe that is what he meant when he said: Remember the middle Way.
Ask you Bear?

I hear Boss shout from the forward swing and scream from the back swing while the big G pushes him this way and that. But he sits on that seat with a low centre of "gravity" (and it's several meanings) so that sometimes his screaming and shouting moves into Song.

Bossy , B-Mayer,Bayer, Bear???
